Gelsey Kirkland Ballet to Perform at Symphony Space, 3/7-8

Following their critically acclaimed world premiere in December the Gelsey Kirkland Ballet returns with an evening of dance at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at Symphony Space (2537 Broadway on the southwest corner of 95th Street and Broadway) Friday, March 7 at 7:30PM and Saturday, March 8 at 7:30PM. This 20-member company, under the artistic direction of Gelsey Kirkland and Michael Chernov present their first mixed program including 'Raymonda Suite,' 'Leaves are Fading' Pas de Deux, 'Ballebille' from Napoli, 'Flames of Paris' Pas de Deux, 'Pas De Quatre' and 'Cavalry Halt.' As part of the shared vision that Ms. Kirkland and Mr. Chernov are attempting to fulfill with the creation of Gelsey Kirkland Ballet, Ms. Kirkland has provided her own personal touch to master works such as The Leaves are Fading, which was created on her at ABT by the renowned British choreographer Antony Tudor. The program also includes the New York premiere of Petipa's Cavalry Halt, a piece rarely viewed by US audiences.

Pace Presents to Welcome LA CURVA, RUBBERBANDance Group & More for SPRING INTO DANCE!

Pace Presents will bring an exciting season of dance this spring to the Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts at Pace University. Six critically acclaimed dance companies will captivate Schimmel Center audiences with an eclectic range of dance styles and virtuosic performances from some of the world's most talented dancers. They are Brian Sanders' JUNK from March 6-March 8; LA CURVA Israel Galvan from March 13 to March 14; RUBBERBANDance Group from March 20-22; ABT Studio Company on March 28; Taylor 2 from April 24 to April 26; and From the Horse's Mouth Tickets for all companies range from $25 to $55 and can be purchased by calling (866) 811-4111 or by vvisiting http://schimmel.pace.edu. Brian Sanders' JUNK (March 6-March 8) Experimental dance-theatre company JUNK, formed by MOMIX alumnus, Brian Sanders makes it's NY is known for their ingenious use of found objects and clever inventions that bridge the gap between dance and physical theatre. Sanders' choreography blends traditional dance theatre with an inventiveness and physicality that gives reason for critics to hail JUNK as 'Philly's most imaginative perpetrator of dare-devilish physical theatre' and declare Sanders as 'the city's most exciting choreographer.'

The Joyce to Present 'Ballet v6.0' Festival in August

This August, The Joyce Theater will present Ballet v6.0, a remarkable festival designed to recognize dancers and choreographers who are creating work outside the traditional large company setting and are forming their own small companies. From August 6 - 17, some of the country's most exciting young dance companies whose works represents a range of ballet styles from neo classical to contemporary, will be presented as part of this festival at The Joyce. They are BalletX, Dominic Walsh Dance Theater, Company C Contemporary Ballet, Whim W'Him, BalletCollective and Jessica Lang Dance. Pace University Presents American Ballet Theatre Studio Co., 4/5

American Ballet Theatre's Studio Company performance on Friday, April 5 at 7:30pm will include full performances of Alexei Ratmansky's Le Carnaval Des Animaux, Paul Taylor's Airs, Raymond Luken's Jerusalem Divertissement and George Balanchine's Tarantella. The show will be part of the second annual "Pace Presents" program, a series of performing and visual arts programs.
