Martin Sheen will return to the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play that brought him a Tony Award nomination in 1964, and join with Frances Conroy and Brian Geraghty in 'The Subject Was Roses' by Frank D. Gilroy, it was announced today by Center Theatre Group Artistic Director Michael Ritchie.
'The Subject Was Roses' replaces the previously announced 'Speed-the-Plow' by David Mamet as the first production in the Taper's 2010 season at the Los Angeles Music Center, February 10 through March 21, 2010. Opening is set for February 21.
The New York Times raved that Farragut North is 'Fast-paced! Has the topical thrill of an insider's tour of recent events!' and Variety declared 'not since The Best Man has the theater enjoyed such a heady thriller on presidential politicking.' The L.A. They will be joined by Ken Tigar, who will be playing the role previously performed by Broadway vet John Cullum in the Theater Row premiere. Beau Willimon's Spirit Control, the story of an air traffic controller trying to avert a disaster, will have a staged reading Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. as part of South Coast Repertory's NewSCRipts series.
