As previously reported, My Girl's Anna Chlumsky and Kristen Johnston are set to headline the Mint Theater Company's SO HELP ME GOD! The Off-Broadway run, which will begin previews November 18th, opens officially at the Lucile Lortel Theatre Dec. 7 and runs through Dec. 20.  Today, the full cast and creative team have been announced.

In SO HELP ME GOD, Johnston plays a demanding leading actress, with Chlumsky as her ingénue understudy with endeavors to take her place. They will be joined by Brad Bellamy, Catherine Curtin, Amy Fitts, Jeremy Lawrence, Ned Noyes, Kevin O'Donnell, John G. Preston, Allen Lewis Rickman, Kraig Swartz, Peter Van Wagner, Matthew Waterson, Margot White and John Windsor-Cunningham.

Designing the production are Bill Clarke (scenic design), Clint Ramos (costume design), Robert Wierzel (lighting design) and Jane Shaw (sound design).

Martin Platt will direct the production, which is written by Maurine Dallas Watkins. Watkins is the late playwright of Chicago (the basis for the Kander and Ebb musical).  His additional screenplays include "Libeled Lady" and "Roxie Hart."

Anna Chlumsky is best-known for playing Vada Sultenfuss in the 1991 movie My Girl and the 1994 sequel My Girl 2. Chlumsky starred in the 2008 Off-Broadway production of Unconditional by Brett C. Leonard at The Public Theater, produced by Philip Seymour Hoffman's LAByrinth Theater Company.

Kristen Johnston is most famous for her role as Sally Solomon in the television series 3rd Rock from the Sun. Johnston made her professional stage debut with New York's Atlantic Theater Company, where she appeared in such productions as As You Like It, Girl's Talk, Stage Door, Author's Voice, Portrait of a Woman, and RoseMary For Remembrance. In addition to her stage and film career, she also teaches at the Atlantic Acting School in NYC.

So Help Me God! circled New York in October of 1929 but did not land on Broadway, thanks in no small part to the Stock Market Crash. The comedy tried out out-of-town on the Subway Circuit including Werba's Flatbush Theater and the Boulevard Theater in Queens. Last summer, Johnston headlined a reading of So Help Me God! at the Lortel.

Mint Theater Company, "that truffle hound of half-buried treasures from the past" (Village Voice) has a celebrated reputation for re-discovering worthy but neglected gems and has brought new vitality to timeless but timely plays since 1992. In 2001, the Mint was awarded an Obie for "combining the excitement of discovery with the richness of tradition." Mint was awarded a special Drama Desk Award for "Unearthing, presenting and preserving forgotten plays of merit."

SO HELP ME GOD! runs from November 18 - December 20, with an official opening night on December 7 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.  For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.minttheater.org.
