CHICAGO (September 3, 2014) – Ashley Wheater, Artistic Director of The Joffrey Ballet, is pleased to announce the addition of three dancers to the Joffrey's international roster for the 2014-2015 season: Artur Babajanyan (Armenia), Edson Barbosa (Brazil) and Brooke Linford, a former Joffrey Academy of Dance Trainee (Alpine, Utah). The three new dancers officially began rehearsing with the company July 21.

Joffrey Ballet Artistic Director Ashley Wheater and Executive Director Greg Cameronannounced today that Ballet Master Gerard Charles has been promoted to Director of Artistic Operations, effective immediately. A newly created position within the Joffrey, Charles' duties will now encompass all production planning and implementation, including being a facilitator between production departments. With this primarily administrative position he will still maintain core artistic roles, including daily contact with the dancers.

The Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet, announces a national call for artists to submit applications for the The Joffrey Academy's Fifth Annual Choreographers of Color Award. The goal of the Award is to recognize talented and emerging choreographers of color whose diverse perspective will ignite creativity in the form of original works of dance. The deadline for application is October 1, 2014.

The upcoming performance of Winning Works: Choreographers of Color Award by The Joffrey Academy of Dance has changed venues due to last week's electrical fire at the Harris Theater, an event unrelated to the Winning Works production. The production will now take place at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place, 175 E. Chestnut Street, and the date and time of the performance remain unchanged, which is tonight, March 1 at 7:00 pm. Winning Works ticket holders will be notified by the Joffrey Ballet box office staff about the change of venue.
