Born for Broadway welcomed Richard Kind, star of stage and screen and a Tony nominee for The Big Knife, as the host of its fifth annual fundraiser and celebrity cabaret, held at the Merkin Concert Hall last night, October 13, 2014. The National Alliance For Musical Theatre (NAMT) has announced casting for the additional concerts and events surrounding their 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals. On October 22nd the Festival kicks off with The 46th Minute, a concert featuring cut songs and new material from all eight 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals selections, followed by The 2014 Songwriters Showcase on October 23rd and The Songwriters Sessions on October 23rd and 24th, all at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).

Producers Paul Blake and Sony/ATV Music Publishing have announced that the Tony Award-winning hit Beautiful-The Carole King Musical, about the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter, has recouped its production costs in less than ten months on Broadway. Capitalized at $13 million, Beautiful has been breaking box office records at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 West 43rd Street) since it opened in January and now becomes the first new musical of the 2013-2014 Season to recoup.

Campbell, previously with Jersey Boys, will step into the role of 'Gerry Goffin' in Beautiful - The Carole King Musical, beginning Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Campbell will take over for Jake Epstein. The Original Broadway Cast Recording of the Tony Award-nominated Best Musical Beautiful -- The Carole King Musical has debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top Broadway Albums Chart, it was announced today.
The Original Broadway Cast Recording of Beautiful - The Carole King Musical is now available for purchase in stores and online. The CD, produced by Jason Howland, Steve Sidwell and Billy Jay Stein, with Kurt Deutsch serving as Executive Producer, includes a 28-page color booklet with full lyrics, rare and never-before-seen archival and show photos, and liner notes by Beautiful book writer Douglas McGrath.
According to the Daily Mail, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical is headed across the pond and will run at the Aldwych Theatre in the West End in 'early 2015'. No word yet on whether or how the show will be recast or specific dates for the run. BWW will keep you updated as we know more!

According to the New York Times, Carole King, who until last month had seen the Broadway show about her life, we reportedly 'do anything it takes' to help Beautiful win Tony Awards this June. The show, which earned 7 nods on Tuesday, is one of four new shows up for Best Musical, and King plans on both attending and performing at the June 8 ceremony, though she hasn't yet decided what she will sing. She told NYT: 'Once I got over my fear of how the show would affect me emotionally - seeing my life onstage - I decided I was all in on helping the show.'
