ESP to Present DANDY DICK Reading, 9/9

So, even though he's a staunch disapprover of the racing game, when his sometime-do-well sisterGeorgiana Tidd, the 'daisy of the turf,' shows up with a supposedly sure thing -the horse of the play's title - the Very Reverend gets very interested, and he and his whole household go delightfully and British-ly bonkers!

Endangered Species Project is tickled to once again blow the dust off an undeservedly dusty script - the astoundingly charming family comedy, THE REMARKABLE MR. PENNYPACKER. Playwright Liam O'Brien honors, by reference and imitation, the great George Bernard Shaw, who died two years before PENNYPACKER's premiere. The play, O'Brien's only work for the stage, was founded on a true story that occurred in O'Brien's family.

National Theatre Live to Broadcast West End's WAR HORSE, Rob Ashford & Kenneth Branagh's MACBETH & More in 2013-14 Season

National Theatre Live is pleased to announce that the June 13 live broadcast of Peter Morgan's Olivier Award-winning new play The Audience was seen by nearly 30,000 people in North America and nearly 80,000 people in the UK - the largest audience ever for a live broadcast from National Theatre Live. Due to the record-breaking response to the National Theatre Live broadcast of The Audience, many encore screenings have already been added, and more encores will be added throughout the summer internationally. In North America, there are currently 700 screenings scheduled throughout the summer, with additional encores to be added still; in the UK, nearly 800 screenings will take place - the largest number of screenings for a National Theatre Live broadcast in both North America and the UK ever. The Audience played its final performance at London's Gielgud Theatre on June 15, starring internationally acclaimed actress Helen Mirren as The Queen, directed by Stephen Daldry, and won two 2013 Olivier Awards for Best Actress (Helen Mirren) and Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Richard McCabe).

Casting Update For Young Vic's A SEASON IN THE CONGO

BAFTA Award-winning director Joe Wright and Olivier Award-winning choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui join forces again following Anna Karenina for the UK premiere of Aime Cesaire's A Season in the Congo, an epic retelling of a vibrant nation's turbulent first year of freedom. Chiwetel Ejiofor plays Patrice Lumumba in his Young Vic debut.

L.A. Theatre Works & The James Bridges Theater Screen THE MAGISTRATE, 2/9

The Magistrate - Filmed live at Great Britain's National Theatre, broadcast by National Theatre Live, and presented by L.A. Theatre Works and the James Bridges Theater: Academy Award nominee and Tony Award-winner John Lithgow (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Shrek, 3rd Rock from the Sun) takes the title role in Arthur Wing Pinero's uproarious Victorian farce, directed by Olivier Award-winner Timothy Sheader. With his dubious air and a developed taste for smoking, gambling, alcohol and women, it's hard to believe Cis Farringdon is only fourteen. And that's because he isn't. Agatha, his mother, dropped five years from her true age-and his-when she married amiable magistrate Posket. When her deception looks set to be revealed, it sparks a series of hilarious indignities and outrageous mishaps. In a similar vein to the National Theatre's smash-hit comedies, She Stoops to Conquer, London Assurance and One Man, Two Guvnors, The Magistrate sis sure to have audiences around the world doubled up with laughter.

Music Box Theatre Screens THE MAGISTRATE, Starring John Lithgow, 1/23 & 2/10

The Music Box Theatre continues its partnership with the UK's National Theatre Live - produced by Northwestern University alum David Sabel - to exhibit live stage performances beamed to Chicago from the prestigious National Theatre in London. Academy Award nominee and Tony Award-winner John Lithgow (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Shrek, This is 40) takes the title role in Arthur Wing Pinero's uproarious Victorian farce, The Magistrate, directed by Olivier Award-winner Timothy Sheader (Crazy for You and Into the Woods). The Chicago performances take place Wednesday, January 23, 7 p.m. and Sunday, February 10, 2 p.m. at the Music Box Theatre, 3733 North Southport Avenue. Tickets to National Theatre Live events are $15 in advance at the Music Box Theatre box office and online at www.musicboxtheatre.com/collections/national-theatre-live-presents; $18 at the door.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey Receives Special Gift From The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey and its artistic director, Bonnie J. Monte, have been awarded a $25,000 gift by The Geraldine R. Dodge foundation in honor of the retirement of the Foundation's longtime trustee, Dr. Barbara Knowles Debs. The surprise presentation was made by Dodge Foundation president and CEO Christopher J. Daggett at the Opening Night of Sir Arthur Wing Pinero's Trelawny of the Wells - the final production of The Theatre's 50th Anniversary Season.
