Music Director Thierry Fischer opens Utah Symphony's 2016-17 Season

The Utah Symphony's 2016-17 season begins this September with two Beethoven Piano Concerti in two weekends featuring award-winning pianists Jonathan Biss and Emanuel Ax. Music Director Thierry Fischer conducts the Utah Symphony in both performances in Abravanel Hall as part of the 2016-17 O.C. Tanner Company Masterworks Series. Tickets start at $21 and can be purchased at www.utahsymphony.org or by calling (801) 533-6683.

New York Philharmonic Announces Free Insights at the Atrium Events

The New York Philharmonic has announced the 2016-17 season's Insights at the Atrium series, free events exploring themes of the Philharmonic's concert season through multimedia lectures, conversations, and panel discussions. Expanding to eight events this season, Insights at the Atrium has gained in popularity since its inception in 2011, helping thousands of audience members delve more deeply into the music, musicians, and ideas featured in the Philharmonic's season through a dynamic and accessible forum. All events are held at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center and begin at 7:30 p.m.

Philadelphia Young Pianists' Academy Brings Young Pianists to Philadelphia for Master Classes

Now in its fourth year as an international event, The Philadelphia Young Pianists' Academy (PYPA), returns to the Curtis Institute of Music this summer for eight days in August. Twenty outstanding young pianists ranging from ages 12 to 24 selected from the United States, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Hungary, Belgium and Columbia will gather at Curtis to study one-on-one with five international concert masters; The PYPA Director Ching-Yun Hu, Charles Abramovic, Zhaoyi Dan, Douglas Humpherys and Alon Goldstein. Five highly talented alternate students will also be invited to attend as observers. The young pianists were invited based on a rigorous selection process that included submitting a written application and an audio recording for review.

The Cincinnati World Piano Competition (CWPC) Board of Directors and Artistic Director Awadagin Pratt announced details today for the 60th Anniversary Concert at 7:30 PM on Saturday, July 30 at Corbett Auditorium, located at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM).

Alan Gilbert to Lead Marc Neikrug World Premiere; Emanuel Ax to Perform Brahms

Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct the New York Philharmonic in the World Premiere- Philharmonic Commission of Marc Neikrug's Canta-Concerto, featuring mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke; Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 2, with Emanuel Ax as soloist; and Brahms's Tragic Overture. The performances take place Thursday, October 1, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, October 3, at 8:00 p.m. Alan Gilbert and the Philharmonic will also perform Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 2, with Emanuel Ax as soloist, on a program that includes Beethoven's Symphony No. 7, on September 30, 2015, at 7:30 p.m., as well as at Long Island University's Tilles Center for the Performing Arts in Brookville, New York, on October 2, 2015, at 8:00 p.m.
