Virginia's Signature Theatre opens its' air-conditioned doors once again for the annual Sizzlin' Summer Nights Series. Two and a half weeks of live music and performances by Signature favorites, DC area stars, and some of New York's most exciting Broadway performers. The cabaret series runs July 8 through July 25, with a different performance each night.

Synetic Theater will host a Pride Night in partnership with Freddie's Beach Bar at 555 23RD St. in Crystal City. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a pre-show reception and will continue at Synetic Theater with the 8 p.m. performance of Everett Quinton's Obie Award-Winning play A Tale of Two Cities, directed by Serge Seiden and starring Company Member Alex Mills.

After her sold out engagement last fall, BETTY BUCKLEY returns at the end of May for seven performances with a new show tailored specifically for Joe's Pub at The Public called Dark Blue-Eyed Blues. Her new collection of songs - running tonight, May 28 through May 31 - will feature 'Musings of a Chanteuse' and will include standards and songs by contemporary writers for some glamour, torch and comedy. She will be joined by Christian Jacob on piano, Tony Marino on bass, Todd Isler on drums and Oz Noy on guitar. Terry Gabis provides sound design.

North Carolina-based The Old Ceremony has confirmed tour dates in support of Sprinter out July 10 on Yep Roc Records. Launching with two nights at Cat's Cradle Backroom in Carrboro, NC, the nine-city tour includes stops Arlington, VA, New York, Boston, Toronto, Newport, KY, Chicago, Nashville and Atlanta. Comedy of Errors, one of Shakespeare's earliest works, will be brought to the stage this June by students in Stoneham Theatre's young company Spring Shakespeare program. The Spring Shakespeare program brings classic theatre to life by challenging young actors in ways most contemporary theatre does not. Through workshops, students in grades 4-12 focus on the importance of textual content and how to communicate the text to each other and the audience through emotion, physicality, and jest. The application of these skills to the Bard's plays is no simple feat, but 19 enthusiastic kids are more than up to the task of performing Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors on Stoneham Theatre's stage on Saturday, June 6, 2015. Under the direction and instruction of Lydia Barnett-Mulligan and Education Associate Tyler Rosati, the students will depict the complexities found throughout the play where each character is fundamentally right in their earnest emotional responses to their bizarre circumstances.

Lexington, KY—University Press of Kentucky author Douglas V. Mastriano has been named the recipient of the 2014Army Historical Foundation Distinguished Writing Award for Biography for his book Alvin York: A New Biography of the Hero of the Argonne. The AHF recognizes six books and three articles each year as outstanding achievements in writing on U.S. Army history. The awards were presented at the AHF's Eighteenth Annual Members' Meeting, held 18 May 2015 at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, VA, and General William Hartzog, USA-Ret., announced the winners.

The Rolling Stones have announced that WALK THE MOON will be the special guest artist opening their show in Detroit on Wednesday, July 8 at Comerica Park.  ZIP CODE, the band's 15-city North American stadium tour, kicks off in San Diego on May 24, and will also be making stops in Columbus, Minneapolis, Arlington, Atlanta, Orlando, Nashville, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Raleigh, Indianapolis and Buffalo before wrapping in Quebec on July 15 at Le Festival D'Eté de Québec.

Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs, by Giles Andrea and Russell Ayto, are setting sail on a new adventure in 2015 following a rollicking award-winning run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, London Wonderground and Southbank Centre.
