Glimpse behind the curtain of ONE NIGHT STAND!

The Orchard Project, the eight-year-old program that has served as a starting place for major, award-winning shows that have debuted in theaters across the United States and world, is pulling up roots and transplanting itself to Saratoga Springs, NY this summer. In addition to continuing to serve as a laboratory for theater teams and companies, the Orchard Project will now be able to offer public performances, adding a theatrical component to the vibrant cultural life of Saratoga, which presently provides summer homes to the New York City Ballet, The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the Philadelphia Orchestra.

A team of nearly 100 stars from Broadway, film, television, and music will cast, write, compose, direct, rehearse, tech, and perform four original musicals - all in the obscenely short time between an evening meet-and-greet on Sunday, April 6 and show time on Monday, April 7 at 8pm. The 24 Hour Company ® is teaming with the Exchange, an off-Broadway theater company, to create the sixth-ever 24 Hour Musicals. The event benefits the Exchange's summer retreat, The Orchard Project, which kick-starts innovative new theatrical work from around the world.

This event is a special day-long symposium that offers the public an in-depth exploration of the political and artistic sides of All the Way, the new play about Lyndon Baines Johnson's first year in office, which stars Bryan Cranston ('Breaking Bad') and is directed by Bill Rauch.

More than ten teams of artists and technologists will collaborate to create new 'experience apps,' concepts, and prototypes this weekend at the inaugural Orchard Project Hackathon, the Artistic Director of the Exchange and the Orchard Project, Ari Edelson, announced today. Over the course of the weekend, teams will be challenged to develop technologies that advance the artistic form. The Orchard Project Hackathon will take place in the Catskill Preserve in Upstate New York from June 22 - 23, 2013.

The Exchange's Artistic Director, Ari Edelson, has announced the artists and companies who participating in the 2013 Orchard Project Summer Residencies. An unprecedented twenty-one companies, teams, and individual artists have been selected from hundreds of applicants to develop new work at The Exchange's Orchard Project. Scandinavian American Theater Company will present the US Premiere of GORILLA by Rhea Leman. The Danish premiere was just nominated for the 2013 Reumert Award (the Danish equivalent of the Tony Award) for Best Playwrighting. Directed by Ari Edelson, previews begin tonight, May 24 at the Lion Theatre at Theatre Row. Opening is slated for May 30.
