Lauren Pritchard and cast members from the critically-acclaimed off-Broadway musical SONGBIRD (based on Chekhov's "The Seagull") join Sam Underwood, Valorie Curry, and Fundamental Theater Project for Columbia University's Harriman Institute's 7th Annual Chekhov Celebration, April 8th, 8pm, Actors Temple Theater, 339 West 47th Street.

Little Fish Theatre has announced new dates for the remainder of the company's 2017 Season.  Due to this winter's record rainstorms, the theatre was forced to go dark in order to complete emergency electrical repairs.  As a result, the original performance schedule was reconfigured. Quartet was moved to the 2018 Season lineup, but all other productions will see the light of day in this calendar year.

Red Tape Theatre and Walkabout Theater Company are pleased to present the world premiere of MOTHER OF SMOKE, a co-created production inspired by the collision of Chuck Mee's Trojan Women: A Love Story and Anton Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard, playing March 23 - April 15, 2017 at Pride Arts Center (The Broadway), 4139 N. Broadway, Chicago. Directed by Walkabout's Artistic Director Thom Pasculli+, MOTHER OF SMOKE features original writing by Emma Stanton+, Morgan McNaught, Lucas Baisch and Ruth Margraff* with original music and text by Lucia Thomas. Staged in tandem, playwright and director Aaron Posner's contemporary original No Sisters and Anton Chekhov's modern classic Three Sisters (1901) fuse the classic and the contemporary in a power move that is calculated to attract theatregoers of all persuasions.

Music Director Alan Gilbert begins his final weeks by leading the New York Philharmonic in Schoenberg's A Survivor from Warsaw and Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. The program juxtaposes the tragedy and optimism of human experience through Schoenberg's depiction of the horror of the Holocaust and the message of hope, brotherhood, and joy in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Schoenberg's A Survivor from Warsaw will feature Gabriel Ebert as narrator (in his Philharmonic debut) and the men of the Westminster Symphonic Choir, directed by Joe Miller. Beethoven's Ninth Symphony will feature soprano Camilla Tilling, mezzo-soprano Daniela Mack (debut), tenor Joseph Kaiser (debut), bass-baritone Eric Owens, and the Westminster Symphonic Choir, directed by Joe Miller. The performances will take place Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, May 4 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 5 at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, May 6 at 8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. The program will be presented without intermission.

The Brick Theater, Inc. & Obvious Volcano Productions presents THREE SISTERS, written by Anton Chekhov, translated by Paul Schimdt, and directed by Maggie Cino, from March 23 to April 1, 2017.

On March 31, EgoPo presents Anna, a World Premiere adaptation of Tolstoy's Anna Karenina. Playwright and Director Brenna Geffers brings literature's greatest heroine to new life with the help of a wandering theater troupe armed with a collection of rickety antiques and instruments. They perform the story, set in the shifting landscape of Imperial Russia, to seek refuge from their own unsettling world. You are invited on their journey, and Anna's, as they travel together toward the story's unavoidable end. Anna previews March 29-30 and opens Friday, March 31. The show runs three weeks, closing on Sunday, April 16. Tickets start at $25. Performances are at the Latvian Society Theater on 7th and Spring Garden.

Contra Costa Civic Theatre (CCCT) today announced its 58th Main Stage season, including two blockbuster musicals, two plays with very different views of family, and a wildly theatrical version of Grimm's fairy tales.

Letters to Windsor House (no, not that one) is the latest show from multi award- winning duo Sh!t Theatre, comprising Louise Mothersole and Rebecca Biscuit, whose last appearance at HOME was in Women's Hour in HOME'S ORBIT Festival in autumn 2016. Letters to Windsor House plays at HOME for four performances, Wed 19 - Fri 21 April 2017.
