Dulaang UP has recently presented the English and Filipino translations of Russian dramatist Anton Chekhov's "The Seagull," which evokes thoughtful discussions about life, ambition, love, and art in a manner devoid of melodrama.

ACT - A Contemporary Theatre has announced its Fall and Winter calendar, including its biggest party of the year: Wanderlust - ACT's Night of Adventure and Annual Gala just in time to kick off the autumnal season. The rest of the calendar rounds out the year with a plethora of exciting new theatrical events including Central Heating Lab projects, the season's finale production of Ramayana, and ACT's holiday tradition of A Christmas Carol.

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Conservatory Director Melissa Smith announced today that the A.C.T. Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) Program has been selected by Anatoly Smeliansky, dean of the Moscow Art Theatre School, to perform at Moscow Art Theatre School's 2012 Stanislavsky Festival, to be held in Moscow October 15-21, 2012. This year's festival, titled "Open Class: Stanislavsky Continues," honors the 150th birthday of Konstantin Stanislavsky, founder of the Moscow Art Theatre. The A.C.T. M.F.A. Program has the distinguished honor of being the only theater school selected to represent the United States.

The WORKSHOP THEATER COMPANY is pleased to announce THE CHEKHOV DREAMS, written by John McKinney, directed by Leslie Kincaid Burby and presented as part of WorkShop Theater Company's Play In Process (PIP) series. THE CHEKHOV DREAMS will play a limited engagement at The Jewel Box Theater (312 West 36th Street, 4th Floor). Performances begin Thursday, October 11 and continue through Saturday, October 27.

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, has announced that their upcoming production of Anton Chekhov's IVANOV, starring Ethan Hawke, Joely Richardson and Juliet Rylance, which begins performances Wednesday, October 17 at CSC (136 East 13th Street), has extended its run by popular demand through Sunday, December 9.

Tickets are now on sale for The Live Source Collective's production of WE ARE LIVE at the Access Theater this September. WE ARE LIVE is a theatre piece that centers on the young characters of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull, merging his text with Shakespeare's Hamlet, and featuring original music by the company.

Hartford Stage, under the leadership of Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak and Managing Director Michael Stotts, today announced the cast of the world premiere stage adaptation of Anton Chekhov's Man in a Case, featuring Mikhail Baryshnikov, on stage from February 21 through March 24. Press night is at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 27. Opening night is at 8 p.m. Friday, March 1.

The Classical Theatre Company's (CTC) first production of their 2012-2013 Main Stage Season as well as the company's first production in their new performance venue and first home, Studio 101 at Spring Street Studios, will be Miss Julie by August Strindberg. The production runs three weeks from tonight, September 26th-October 14th 2012.

Michael Urie stars in the new CBS comedy PARTNERS. In the season opener, when Joe must decide whether or not to ask Ali to marry him, Louis and his good intentions threaten to get in the way of his best friend's happiness, on the series premiere of PARTNERS, tonight, Sept. 24 (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

CONFESSIONS AND CONVERSATION-the newest work by the celebrated playwright, performer and longtime La MaMa artist Jean-Claude van Itallie -- will debut at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St. in Manhattan) for four performances only tonight, September 20 to September 23.

The New York premiere of Graham Schmidt's new translation of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull, a play following a family of 19th Century Russian artists and non-artists depicts a timeless portrait of art and the need to communicate.
