Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya bursts with passion and fierce humor in Pulitzer Prize and three-time Obie Award-winning playwright Annie Baker's colloquial translation, adapted from a literal translation by Margarita Shalina and the original Russian text. The Antaeus Theatre Company presents the West Coast premiere of Baker's fresh new version, hailed as one of the top 10 shows of 2012 by both The New York Times and New York magazine, in a fully partner-cast production. Robin Larsen directs for an October 15 opening at the Antaeus Theater in NoHo, with low-priced previews beginning October 8.

The first pictures are released today for a major new season of Anton Chekhov's early works at Chichester Festival Theatre. Newly adapted by David Hare and directed by Jonathan Kent, the productions present a unique theatrical event which will see a repertory cast of 23 actors performing 50 parts in Platonov, Ivanov and The Seagull. For the first time ever on this scale audiences will be given the opportunity to see all three shows in close proximity performed by the same group and with the same creative team.  Check out the rehearsal photos below!

TCG Releases New Translation of THE CHERRY ORCHARD with Chekhov's Original

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) has published a momentous new edition of Anton Chekhov's beloved drama THE CHERRY ORCHARD, by renowned playwright Richard Nelson and foremost Russian translators Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky. This volume marks the third of TCG's Classic Russian Drama Series, which will include new editions of several canon classics.
