BWW Review: World Premiere of Ken Ludwig's A COMEDY OF TENORS Delights at Cleveland Play House

The Cleveland Play House opened its 100th season in a lavish and theatrically exciting way. An invitation only group of CPH financial supporters, politicians, and theatre enthusiasts, draped in tuxedos and high fashioned gowns, entered the beautiful Allen theatre lobby to have their pictures taken with the 2015 Best Regional Theatre Tony Award statue. Guests were then escorted into the inner lobby where a cocktail party was in full swing.

I'm normally not a fan of an one person shows because what I love about theater is the interaction between multiple actors and the emotions that can come from that. However, I Love, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti has made me rethink my previous thought. This was an engaging, fun and interesting one person production.

The mouth-watering new comedy I LOVED, I LOST, I MADE SPAGHETTI opens the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park's 2014-15 Thompson Shelterhouse Theatre season. Adapted by Jacques Lamarre from the 2009 memoir by Giulia Melucci, the show dishes up a hilarious account of good food and bad boyfriends.

Asolo Repertory Theatre's sizzling summer production of I LOVED, I LOST, I MADE SPAGHETTI opens tonight, May 21 at 8pm and will run through Sunday, June 15 in Asolo Rep's Cook Theatre. Starring Antoinette LaVecchia, who originated the role of Giulia at TheaterWorks in Connecticut in 2012, previews for the 2012 Broadwayworld.com winner for Best Original/New Work will be Sunday, May 18 at 8pm and Tuesday, May 20 at 7:30pm. The play will be directed by Rob Ruggiero (Asolo Rep's Show Boat). Asolo Rep's production transfers from a highly successful April 2014 run at George Street Playhouse in New Jersey where it received both critical and public acclaim.

The New York premiere of the late award-winning playwright Oni Faida Lampley's play Tough Titty, a poignant and funny exploration of what comes next for a Brooklyn mother diagnosed with breast cancer, will be presented next month by actress/producer Ami Brabson (Homicide: Life on the Street, Law & Order: SVU, Damages) & her husband, Emmy and Obie Award-winning actor Andre Braugher (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Homicide: Life on the Street, Law & Order, Glory, City of Angels). Lydia Fort will direct. The play premiered at the Williamstown Theatre Festival and made Lampley a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Award.
