Music Mountain to Welcome Calidore String Quartet with Daniel Phillips & More, 6/19-21

Music Mountain, America's oldest continuing summer chamber music festival, continues its 86th anniversary season with the Calidore String Quartet and guest artist Daniel Phillips, viola on Sunday, June 21st (3PM) performing Schubert, Caroline Shaw, Mendelssohn, and Brahms. Also this weekend, America's foremost Gilbert & Sullivan repertory ensemble, the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players, honors their 40th anniversary season on Saturday, June 20th (6:30PM) including a special pre-concert dinner at The Falls Village Inn (5PM). This weekend also marks the beginning of the new Distinguished Artist Recital Series - a series of three evening recitals on Fridays (7:30pm) featuring the talents of this summer's visiting faculty. Music Mountain has a long-standing tradition of bringing musicians of all ages to Gordon Hall. This weekend is a glowing example of this mission - the young Calidore String Quartet is embarking on their 4th year as an ensemble, while The New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players are celebrating their 40th year! Chamber music, country, jazz, and folk concerts will continue thru September 27th.
New York Philharmonic to Release Complete Box Set of THE NIELSEN PROJECT, 6/9

The final recording and complete box set of The Nielsen Project - the New York Philharmonic's acclaimed multi-season survey of the six symphonies and three concertos by Danish composer Carl Nielsen (1865-1931) - will be released June 9, 2015, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the composer's birth. The final recording features Nielsen's complete concertos: the Flute Concerto with Principal Flute Robert Langevin, Clarinet Concerto with Principal Clarinet Anthony McGill, and Violin Concerto with Danish violinist Nikolaj Znaider.

Music Academy Announces 2015 Summer Season

The Music Academy of the West will present the world-renowned New York Philharmonic in its first-ever performance at the historic Santa Barbara Bowl as well as a new production of Gioachino Rossini's comic opera Cinderella as part of the Academy's 68th annual Summer Festival. The Music Academy will present some 200 events, including more than 80 that are free, over the course of its coming season, which begins June 15 and concludes August 8. Additional highlights will include performances by pianists Jeremy Denk and Leon Fleisher, the Takács and JACK quartets, cellist Alban Gerhardt, and tenor Anthony Dean Griffey, as well as orchestra concerts led by Christoph von Dohnányi, Courtney Lewis, Nicholas McGegan, Larry Rachleff, and Osmo Vänskä. Throughout its 2015 Summer Festival, the Academy will highlight the music of living composers, including Carter Pann, Mason Bates, Kalevi Aho, Pierre Jalbert, Steve Reich, Thomas Adès, Caroline Shaw, and Pierre Boulez. Featuring the Academy's exceptionally talented fellows, together with distinguished guest performers and faculty, the events will be presented at the Academy's scenic Miraflores campus and in venues throughout Santa Barbara. Subscription sales have begun; individual tickets will go on sale Saturday, April 25.

The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Youth Orchestras (CSOYO) continue their 2014/15 season on March 9 at 7:30pm at Brainerd Baptist Church with a concert performed by the CSOYO Symphony with Gary Wilkes conducting, featuring An American in Paris by George Gershwin and Polovtsian Dances by Alexander Borodin. Gershwin's orchestral masterpiece, featured in the MGM movie of the same title, takes us musically through the streets and shops of Paris as American tourists gawk and take in the wonderful sights, from the Eiffel Tower to Montmartre (listen for the French taxi horns). Borodin's wonderful dances from his opera Prince Igor are still delightful to listeners today. It is Russian music at its best with beautiful exotic melodies and powerful rhythms.

Long Island's longest-running classical music festival launches a new spring series this year. The Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival, which since 1984 has taken place every summer in the beautiful seaside setting of the island's East End, will inaugurate BCMF Spring with two Sunday concerts, on March 22 and April 26, 2015.

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO) today announced its programs for the 2015–16 concert season, Jacques Lacombe's sixth and final season as the Orchestra's music director. Fulfilling its mission as a statewide orchestra, the NJSO brings subscription programs to venues in Newark, New Brunswick, Princeton, Morristown, Red Bank and Englewood, with 14 weeks of subscription classical programs, five pops programs and three family concerts, as well as several special concerts.
