Music Director David Bernard will conduct with the audience seated amongst the musicians, continuing his trailblazing 'InsideOut' concept, at New York's DiMenna Center for Classical Music

The New York Philharmonic will celebrate its 175th birthday with a subscription program led by former Music Director Alan Gilbert; nearly 100 historic radio broadcast performances released for streaming for the first time; a New York Philharmonic Digital Archives release of all of the Orchestra's archival material from the 19th century; a New York Philharmonic Archives exhibit, The New York Philharmonic at 175: A History of Innovation; and a free Insights at the Atrium event, 'Inside the Orchestra: Yesterday, Today, and Imagining the Future,' with Philharmonic musicians.

The University Musical Society of the University of Michigan (UMS) and the New York Philharmonic, in conjunction with the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance (SMTD), announce full details for the New York Philharmonic's 2017 residency in Ann Arbor, taking place November 16-19, 2017.

The New York Philharmonic will present Bernstein's Philharmonic: A Centennial Festival, October 25-November 14, 2017,celebrating the former Philharmonic Music Director and Laureate Conductor on the centennial of his birth. The festival - which is part of the worldwide salute to the legacy of the renowned composer, conductor, pianist, and educator - will center on Bernstein's symphonic cycle, conducted by Alan Gilbert and Leonard Slatkin, complemented by other Bernstein works as well as by music by composers he admired and championed. In addition, the Philharmonic will present a Young People's Concert - the series that Bernstein famously brought to national attention through the television broadcasts - titled Inspirations and Tributes: "Celebrating Leonard Bernstein," conducted by Leonard Slatkin and featuring pianist Makoto Ozone on November 11. A number of other events - ranging from a marathon of Bernstein's Mahler recordings to a partnership with Harvard and University of Michigan to explore Bernstein as an educator and conductor - complement the concerts throughout the centennial season. Bernstein served as the Philharmonic's Music Director from 1958 to 1969, when he was named Laureate Conductor, a title he held until his death in 1990.

The McGill/McHale Trio, whose members are Demarre McGill, principal flute of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra; his brother Anthony McGill, principal clarinet of the New York Philharmonic; and Irish pianist Michael McHale, makes its recording debut with 'Portraits - Works for Flute, Clarinet & Piano' on Cedille Records.

A second performance of 'Brahms and the Schumanns,' narrated by Alan Alda, has been added to the schedule of the 2017 Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival. This program, which opens the festival, will now be performed on July 30 and 31.

PACS Music Director David Bernard devotes the entire 2017/18 season to his popular and highly-innovative concert format

At first it was unconscious, then by design: the 34th season of the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival, Long Island's longest-running classical music festival, has something of a water theme.

On Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 4pm, Israeli-American cellist Inbal Segev, known for her “warm, pure and beautiful tone” (Strings Magazine), will give the world premiere of Tangle Eye, Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, by California Symphony Young American Composer-in-Residence Dan Visconti, with the California Symphony at Lesher Center for the Arts, in a concert led by Music Director Donato Cabrera. The concert will also include Beethoven's Coriolan Overture and Bruckner's Symphony No. 6. A free pre-concert talk with Cabrera will begin at 3pm.

Peak Performances will present the All Terrain String Festival: Bolcom 4x4, a three-day festival in which four of the world's foremost string quartets will perform the work of prolific Pulitzer Prize-winning American composer William Bolcom, along with music by a wide variety of other composers, from Mozart to Dizzy Gillespie.

Israeli-American cellist Inbal Segev, known for her "warm, pure and beautiful tone" (Strings Magazine), will open The Music of Anna Clyne, a concert marking the first night of Roulette's (509 Atlantic Ave) third annual String Theory Festival. Segev will perform Grammy-nominated composer Anna Clyne's Rest These Hands for solo cello. The concert also includes performances of Clyne's music by The String Orchestra of Brooklyn and Mivos Quartet.

Orpheus Chamber Orchestra presents its final concert of the 2016-17 season at Carnegie Hall in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage on Saturday, March 18 at 7:00 p.m.

Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic performed a historic concert at the United Nations yesterday, paying tribute to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on the conclusion of his ten-year term and welcoming his successor, Antonio Guterres. The concert in the UN General Assembly Hall - the Philharmonic's 13th in collaboration with the UN - was attended by UN delegates, UN staff, and cultural ambassadors, and featured Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and Mozart's Clarinet Concerto, spotlighting Principal Clarinet Anthony McGill.

Pianist/composer Gregg Kallor brings his acclaimed setting of Edgar Allan Poe's short story, The Tell-Tale Heart, to SubCulture on January 14, 2017 with soprano Melody Moore and cellist Joshua Roman, featuring a semi-staging by Sarah Meyers.
