BET Networks, a unit of Viacom Inc. (VIA, VIA.B), today announced the nominations for the 2016 'BET Awards,' taking place at Microsoft Theater on Sunday, June 26.

With help from the show hosts hip-hop artist and actor Ludacris and international music sensation Ciara, dick clark productions and ABC announced the finalists for the “2016 Billboard Music Awards,” honoring the year's most successful artists in 43 categories.

The combination of the DJ's powerful digital electronica with the heart-pounding organic pulse of taiko (a Japanese form of percussion using large drums) explore the connections of rhythm, movement, and energy at Harris Center for the Arts in Folsom.

In partnership with Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Dimensions Dance Theater, the Bay Area's preeminent African-American dance company, is proud to announce the celebration of its 40th anniversary on October 5, 2013. This momentous occasion will be marked with a formal procession followed by a retrospective of the company's four decades of creativity and community-building. The evening will conclude with the world premiere of all four parts of Rhythms of Life: Down the Congo Line, a monumental work representing the legacy of traditional Congolese dance forms in the New World. Dance performances will be attended throughout by live music and ritual enactments.

Choreographer, director and Bay Area performance innovator Joanna Haigood will explore issues of race and identity in the world premiere of her new performance installation, Between me and the other world, Friday through Sunday, November 1 through 3 from 1 to 5 pm at Zaccho Studio, 1777 Yosemite Avenue, Studio 330, in San Francisco. A dynamic exploration of scholar and civil rights leader W.E.B. DuBois' concept of "double consciousness", the performance installation has been created in collaboration with composer Anthony Brown, media artist David Szlasa, scenic designer Sean Riley and performing artists Jetta Martin, Raissa Simpson, Rashidi Omari and Matthew Wickett, who together have created an immersive environment that evokes the identity duality experienced by many people of color. The second season of The Rickey Smiley Show is scheduled to begin production in April with a 26-episode order and is slated to premiere in the summer of 2013.
