Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company to Present DETROIT, 9/9-10/6

Detroit runs September 9, 2013 to October 6, 2013, with performances Tuesday-Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 3pm and 8pm (September 14 at 8pm only), and Sunday at 2pm and 7pm (September 15 at 7pm only). Monday and Tuesday, September 9 and 10, will be Pay-What-You-Can performances and begin at 8pm.

Harbor Stage Company & Agnes Table Opens SHIMMER Tonight

Beginning tonight, August 4th, The Harbor Stage Company in conjunction with Agnes Table presents the gritty and poetic coming of age story - Shimmer. The production marks the Cape Cod premiere of this solo-piece created by the much lauded San Francisco theater maker John O'Keefe. The New York Times described Shimmer as 'bravura storytelling that etches itself on the mind'.

Annex Theatre Presents PRECIOUS LITTLE, Now thru 8/31

Precious Little tells the story of Brodie, a gifted linguist who chooses to become a single parent at age 42. When genetic testing reveals a possible problem with her pregnancy, unexpected emotions complicate both her research of a dying language and her romantic relationship with Dre, a grad student with a mind of her own. Amid the noise, Brodie forms an unexpected connection with a 'talking' gorilla at the local zoo.

BWW Reviews: TEAM OF HEROES 3 at Annex Suffers Lack of Pace and Plot

The conclusion of the "Team of Heroes" Trilogy, "Team of Heroes: No More Heroes" currently playing at Annex Theatre has swooped in to save us all, but it could use some saving of its own. Yes, all of your favorite damaged superheroes and super villains are there as well as little gimmicks and tricks to make the audience squeal, but unfortunately the show slowly plods along with no direction or purpose and ultimately fizzles.

The Baltimore Playwrights Festival continues its Thirty-Second Season with a play-reading marathon today, February 23, 2013, at The Vagabond Players, 806 S. Broadway, Baltimore, MD 21231 (www.vagabondplayers.com). Starting at 11:30 a.m., plays to be read are The Good News, by Matthew Buckley Smith, directed by Kwame Bey, followed at 2:00 p.m. by The Prognosis, by Patrick J. McGeever, directed by Steve Goldklang, and at 3:00 by Peep Show, by Ivan Taub, directed by Rodney Bonds. After each reading there will be a discussion of the script with the playwright, director and actors. The event is free, and the general public is encouraged to attend.
