Music Director Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic in the U.S. Premiere of Peter Eo?tvo?s's one-act opera Senza sangue - featuring mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter and baritone Russell Braun, the two vocalists for whom the work is being composed - and Schubert's Symphony in B minor, Unfinished, Friday, May 8, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 9, 2015, at 8:00 p.m.

Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam; the Royal Concertgebouw; and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, David Robertson, Chief Conductor and Artistic Director - performed by violinist Leila Josefowicz, for whom it is written and dedicated. The concerts also include two early 20th-century Russian works, Stravinsky's Petrushka (original 1911 version) and Lyadov's The Enchanted Lake.

Marilyn Horne to Lead THE SONG CONTINUES Series at Carnegie Hall

From January 13 to 17, Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute (WMI) presents The Song Continues, an annual series led by renowned mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne, exploring song repertoire through master classes and concerts with the goal of encouraging, supporting, and preserving the art of the vocal recital. The series concludes with the Marilyn Horne Song Celebration, a recital featuring special guest artists mezzo-soprano Susan Graham and pianist Brian Zeger on Saturday, January 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Zankel Hall. The evening's concert also features performances by soprano Alison King, mezzo-soprano Cecelia Hall, tenor Russell Thomas, baritone Edward Parks, and pianists Keun-A Lee, Ken Noda, Renate Rohlfing, and Peter Walsh. Bach's Concerto for Violin and Oboe, featuring Principal Associate Concertmaster Sheryl Staples (now the Orchestra's Acting Concertmaster) and Principal Oboe Liang Wang with Mr. Kahane leading from the harpsichord; Mozart's Symphony No. 33; and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1, with Mr. Kahane conducting from the piano.

This September, Carnegie Hall's Judith and Burton Resnick Education Wing opens to the public, providing a new home within the Hall's landmark building for a wide range of music education and community programs created by Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute (WMI) and Ensemble ACJW. Young musicians, families, students, and teachers can have the opportunity to share musical experiences in 24 new inspirational spaces dedicated to music education on Carnegie Hall's upper floors. Activities housed in the new 61,000-square-foot wing will include interactive and educational musical events for families; programs for New York City students and music teachers; rehearsals and training for Ensemble ACJW fellows; workshops and master classes for young musicians; and professional development activities for educators, WMI teaching artists, and performers.
