Ben Platt, John Bolton, Ben Fankhauser & More to Take Part in York Theatre Company's 2014 Developmental Readings

The York Theatre Company, and its acclaimed Developmental Reading Series, present the New York premiere of three new musicals: Mark Felt, Superstar with book, music and lyrics by Joshua Rosenblum; Paris Through the Window, with book & lyrics by Charles Osborne and music by Leo Hurley; and We Foxes with book, lyrics and music by Ryan Scott Oliver at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). The readings are open to the public with a suggested donation of $5.00.

FROM THE FACTORY FLOOR will feature songs from over fifteen new musicals and all proceeds from the event will benefit future development programs at MTF.

ONCE to Play 1,000th Performance on Broadway Next Week

The Tony and Grammy Award-winning Best Musical ONCE, will celebrate its 1000th performance on Broadway on Wednesday, August 13. Following the 8:00pm performance, ONCE composer Glen Hansard, who flies in from Los Angeles after performing songs from his new album at the Hollywood Bowl, will join the cast on stage at the curtain call.

Up on the Marquee: ONCE Gets a Makeover

The Tony and Grammy Award-winning Best Musical Once, based on the 2007 Academy Award-winning film, is currently playing on Broadway at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 West 45th Street). The production opened to rave reviews on Sunday, March 18, 2012. ONCE won eight Tony Awards including Best Musical. The production was also named Best Musical by the New York Drama Critics Circle, Drama Desk, Drama League, Outer Critics Circle and Lucille Lortel Awards.Check out photos of the new marquee below!

Tour: West Side Story), Nick Mason, Kenita Miller* (Bway: Xanadu, The Color Purple), Kenny Morris* (Bway: Hairspray, Les Miserables), Benjiman Dallas Redding (Nat. Tour: West Side Story), Shaun Repito (Nat. Tour: West Side Story), Dale Sampson*, Beth Cheryl Tarnow*, and Jillian Wallach (Nat. Tour: Legally Blonde). Propaganda! The Musical is being staged at PTC Performance Space, 555 West 42nd Street (bet. 9th & 10th Avenues) in NYC for five performances from Today, July 23 through Sunday, July 27, 2014.

The Lobby Project, a series of free pre-show events presented in conjunction with New York City Center's Encores! Off-Center series, will feature a free pre-show event before the Today, June 28 performance of Jonathan Larson's tick, tick… BOOM!. 54 Below Meets 55 Above will feature selections of Larson's rarely heard work, curated by Jennifer Tepper (programming director of the cabaret venue 54 Below) sung by Broadway performers Nick Blaemire, Joe Iconis, Anne L. Nathan, Taylor Trensch and Alysha Umphress.

BWW Interview: Composer/Lyricist Michael Patrick Walker Talks DOG AND PONY at The Old Globe

Musician/composer/lyricist Michael Patrick Walker is world premiering a new musical Dog and Pony at the Old Globe in San Diego. Walker is best known as one of the composers of the hit musical Altar Boyz. He was nominated for a 2005 Lucille Lortel Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical and for two 2005 Drama Desk Awards for Best Music and for Best Lyrics for Altar Boyz. The show also won the 2005 Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical. In our chat, Walker talks in depth about Dog and Pony and working with the cast and creative team at the Old Globe.
