Hollywood Sings is a musical revue style production currently on stage at the Victoria People's Playhouse in Petrolia. Presented by David Rogers and David Hogan and starring an impressive roster of Canadian talent (including Les Miserables alumnus Susan Gilmour) the show makes for a great night out for lovers of film, musicals and live music.

'The Birdcage,' director Mike Nichols' Americanized adaptation of Jean Poiret's popular French farce 'La Cage Aux Folles' (with a screenplay by Nichols' former comic partner Elaine May, based on the play and the original 1978 French film's screenplay by Francis Veber, Edouard Molinaro, Marcello Danon, and Poiret), airs on Reel 13 on Saturday, September 14.

The New York Times reports that Oscar nominee Michelle Williams will star for the first time on Broadway as 'Sally Bowles' in Roundabout Theater Company's upcoming production of Cabaret. She will take the stage alongside Alan Cumming as the M.C. at Studio 54 in 2014, co-directed by Sam Mendes and Rob Marshall. Roundabout is expected to make an official announcement soon.

The 61st edition of the San Sebastian Festival will present its Donostia Award to one of today's best known film stars, Hugh Jackman. The actor will receive the Award on September 27 prior to the special screening of the latest work in which he plays the lead, Prisoners.

After a critically acclaimed and highly successful inaugural season, Bayou City Theatrics will open their second season with a reinvented production of the world-famous musical, Les Miserables. Following the success of the 2012 Academy Award winning film adaptation, (starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway) Music Theatre International released the performance rights for the musical to be licensed to companies nationwide. BCT's Artistic Director, Colton Berry, jumped at the chance.

In late-night metered-market household averages for Saturday night, an encore telecast of 'Saturday Night Live,' with host Anne Hathaway and musical guest Rihanna, averaged a 2.5/7 in metered-market households. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, 'Saturday Night Live' averaged a 1.2 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49. 'SNL' posted the top rating of the night among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in the Local People Meters, out-rating all Primetime programming on those networks.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, 20th Century Fox recently formed a joint venture with top Broadway producer and Tony Award winner Kevin McCollum (Motown, Rent, Avenue Q, In the Heights), prolific film producer John Davis (Predator, The Firm, Grumpy Old Men, I Robot, Chronicle) and leading industry executive Tom McGrath, to develop live stage productions based upon the studio's vast library of films. Now according to the New York Times, Fox won't be the only major film studio with movie-based musicals in the woks in the coming years.
