Anna Deveare Smith Comes to The Broad Stage, 7/20-31

Anna Deveare Smith, who received a MacArthur Genius Award for her unique 'blend of theatrical art, social commentary, journalism, and intimate reverie,' is bringing her latest one-woman show Let Me Down Easy to The Broad Stage. There will be Previews on July 20 and Opening Night is July 22.

Crossroads Theatre Company Presents The Genesis Festival of New Plays and Voices, 5/27-5/29

The Tony Award® winning Crossroads Theatre Company presents the annual Genesis Festival of New Plays and Voices May 27-29, 2011. The festival creates a haven for the audience, actors, director and playwright to share in the experience of the creative process, offering audience members an insider's view of the development of new work for the stage. Professional readings take place in the intimate setting of the fourth-floor studio of the Crossroads Theatre, followed by a lively discussion among artists and audience members. A wine and cheese reception afterward provides an additional opportunity to chat with the artists.

Claudia Shear's Restoration Opens at NYTW 5/19

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that Restoration, written by Claudia Shear, and directed by Christopher Ashley, will begin performances Friday, April 30, at 8pm, at NYTW, 79 East 4th Street, between Second Avenue and Bowery. Opening night is scheduled for Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at 7:00pm. The production runs through Sunday, June 13; single tickets are on sale Friday, April 16.

Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers covering New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway publicly announced the nominees for the 2009-10 season on Monday, April 26th at the historic Algonquin Hotel. Outer Critics Circle posted award nominations in 23 categories and are the first major Broadway/Off-Broadway award nominees of the New York theater season.
