AN EARLY HISTORY OF FIRE to Open Off-Broadway April 30

The New Group presents the world premiere of An Early History of Fire, a new play by Tony Award-winning playwright David Rabe. Directed by Jo Bonney, this production features Deema Aitken, Gordon Clapp, Erin Darke, Jonny Orsini, Devin Ratray, Dennis Staroselsky, Theo Stockman and Claire van der Boom. Limited Off-Broadway engagement is slated April 5 - May 26 at The New Group at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street). Official Opening Night is set for Monday, April 30 at 7:00 PM.

The 3rd UNITED SOLO Theatre Festival, 10/11-11/18, Opens for Submissions

United Solo, established as the world's largest solo theatre festival, has announced dates for its six-week run this fall. The Festival will be held between October 11 and November 18, 2012 at Theatre ROW on 42nd Street in the heart of New York's theatre district.

Thia Breen, Barbara Goldsmith, Cornelia Guest Honored By Women's Project

Estée Lauder's Thia Breen, author and historian Barbara Goldsmith and philanthropist and animal activist Cornelia Guest are Women's Project's 2012 Women of Achievement who will be inducted at its 27th Annual Gala Celebration hosted by the columnist Cindy Adams at the Copacabana, 268 West 47th Street, on Monday, March 5, at 6:30pm.

Lily Rabe Leaves Cast of New Group's EARLY HISTORY OF FIRE

The New Group will present the world premiere of An Early History of Fire, a new play by Tony Award-winning playwright David Rabe. Lily Rabe, who was previously slated to star in the play will no longer be taking part in the production.

Topher Grace & Olivia Thirlby to Lead LONELY, I'M NOT at Second Stage

TOPHER GRACE and OLIVIA THIRLBY will co-star in Second Stage Theatre's production of Paul Weitz's world premiere comedy, LONELY, I'M NOT, directed by Trip Cullman. Preview performances are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 10 at Second Stage's Tony Kiser Theatre (305 West 43rd street). The production will officially open on Monday, May 7. A co-production with Center Theatre Group and originally commissioned and produced by the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, American Night: The Ballad of Juan José will run through February 26, 2012 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre. The American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) Program, which has trained such celebrated actors as Elizabeth Banks, Annette Bening, Anna Deavere Smith, and Denzel Washington, presents the sharp-witted, raunchy satire The Mandrake by Niccolò Machiavelli.

Pasek & Paul's DOGFIGHT to Play Second Stage Theatre This Summer; Mantello to Direct

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) will conclude its 33rd season with the World Premiere of the new musical, DOGFIGHT, featuring music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, a book by Peter Duchan and directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello. Winner of the prestigious 2011 Richards Rodgers Award for Musical Theatre, DOGFIGHT will be performed at Second Stage's Tony Kiser Theatre (305 West 43rd street) this summer. LET ME DOWN EASY Airs On PBS' 'Great Performances' Tonight

PBS's 'Great Performances' series has just announced the schedule for their previously announced 2012 line-up, which is set to feature a slew of theatre productions. Included in the season is LET ME DOWN EASY- a one-woman show featuring Anna Deavere Smith airing January 13; MEMPHIS- featuring original stars Montego Glover and Chad Kimball airing February 24; and THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA- featuring Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess airing in March.

KQED 9 Features Two Berkeley Rep Shows This Week

In the coming week, by tuning into KQED 9, local television viewers can get a taste of the intimacy and adventure that theatregoers regularly enjoy at the Tony Award-winning Berkeley Repertory Theatre. First, Anna Deavere Smith's electrifying solo show Let Me Down Easy airs on PBS' Great Performances. Then KQED debuts The Memory Be Green, an original documentary about the world-premiere production of Ghost Light. As if that were not enough, This American Life - the popular National Public Radio program - devoted its entire hour to The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs last week, and that episode can now be heard online.
