The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation has announced the finalists for the second year of the Knight Arts Challenge Philadelphia.

Actors of all ages and experience levels are welcome at the award-winning American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Conservatory for world-class training, and the New Year brings many opportunities to take part.

La Jolla Playhouse has announced the cast and creative team for its production of American Night: The Ballad of Juan Jose, written by Richard Montoya (Zorro in Hell) for Culture Clash, developed by Culture Clash and Jo Bonney (The Seven, Adoration of the Old Woman), directed by Jo Bonney. A co-production with Center Theatre Group and originally commissioned and produced by the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, American Night: The Ballad of Juan Jose will run January 27 - February 26, 2012 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre.

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) will host a memorial for the late Edward Hastings, who was one of the company's original members and served as A.C.T.'s second artistic director from 1986 to 1992. As described in a brochure for WNET's 'Great Performances' series, the 2011-12 season will feature a slew of theatre productions. Also included in this season will be Michael Tilson Thomas' THE THOMASHEFSKYS- starring Shuler Hensley and Judy Blazer, and 'The Divine Right'- a Sam Mendes miniseries about putting together Shakespeare's RICHARD II, HENRY IV Parts I & II and HENRY V. Air dates for the above programs have not yet been announced.
