9 To 5: The Musical begins previews on Broadway Tuesday, April 7, 2009, and opens Thursday, April 30, 2009, at the Marriott Marquis Theatre.

Jamie McGonnigal and Joe's Pub present the 5th incarnation of their hit series in 'FLOPZ n' CUTZ 5' on Sunday, March 15th at 9:30pm. FLOPZ n' CUTZ, the series named a 'SMASH!' by NEXT Magazine, aims to acquaint theatre enthusiasts with shows and songs that, while not quite successful in their original incarnations, still have merits that can be showcased in a concert setting.

The National Foundation for Facial Reconstruction (NFFR) presented Broadway for Medicine II featuring funny-lady Julie Halston (Hairspray, Sex and the City) and 'Professor of all things Broadway,' Sirius/XM Satellite Radio host Seth Rudetsky along with some very exciting special guests. The event took place on Monday, March 9, 2009 at Cipriani 42nd Street.

Broadway's cuddliest friends kicked off a new year with the 12th annual BROADWAY BEARS auction on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at the B.B. King Blues Club & Grill (237 West 42 St.), in support of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. BroadwayWorld's cameras joined the fun and the caught bidding of the bears!

Broadway lovers and teddy bear collectors came together on Sunday, February 15, at the BROADWAY BEARS XII auction, which raised a grand total of $152,116! The event was hosted by Bryan Batt with Lorna Kelly reprising her role as auctioneer. Forty specially made BROADWAY BEARS ? each dressed in original, handmade costumes representing the theater?s most legendary characters - were auctioned to the highest bidder in support of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Last year?s BROADWAY BEARS raised $130,878 and the grand total for all 12 Broadway Bears auctions is $1,644,077.18 with over 500 bears auctioned.

On February 16th, some of today's brightest Broadway talent came together at the legendary Birdland Jazz Club and celebrated the compositions of songwriter Katie Thompson. Thompson, accompanied each performer as well as herself on the piano, and was joined by cellists Mairi Dorman-Phaneuf and Allison Seidner.

Katie originated the roles of 'Sariah' in THE ARK and 'Connie Lou' in Michael McLean's THE FORGOTTEN CAROLS, a role she owned for 7 years of touring everywhere from Honolulu to Washington, D.C. As a songwriter, Katie was nominated for a Pearl Award, an Indie Award, and on the MAC ballot for her original songs 'I Can Be Bought', 'It Doesn't Hurt', and for NEW YORK DEBUT - FEMALE. Congregation Beth Simchat Torah (CBST) is pleased to announce the New York Premiere of Songs of Innocence and Experience by William Finn. Composed at Williams College, this piece contains lyrics and music by Finn in collaboration with his students. Songs of Innocence and Experience tells the stories of teachers and students, exploring the process of how learning is passed on.
