Lin-Manuel Miranda's HAMILTON Closes Tonight at The Public Theater; Time for Broadway!

The world premiere production of HAMILTON, inspired by the book 'Alexander Hamilton' by Ron Chernow, with book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and directed by Thomas Kail, concludes its run tonight, May 3, at The Public Theater. But this is not the end of the road for the company. HAMILTON will start performances on Broadway on July 13 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, where tickets are already on sale.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is a household name for many fans of Broadway. From his mega-hits ranging from Cats to Phantom of the Opera, everyone knows his works. The Saenger Theatre is no stranger to the genius of Lloyd Webber either, having housed the current tour of Phantom of the Opera earlier this season. This past week they have housed another Lloyd Webber creation of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, best known as the first Lloyd Webber musical to be professionally produced.

A new block of seats to the musical HAMILTON on Broadway go on sale Friday, April 24 at 10 a.m. Tickets are available for purchase through March 27, 2016 via phone, online or at the box office of the Richard Rodgers Theatre (246 W. 46 St.).

The Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers covering New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway announced the nominees this morning for the 2014-15 season. The first major Broadway/Off-Broadway award nominees of the New York theater season, the organization is celebrating its 64th season of bestowing awards of excellence in the field of theater. The Outer Critics Circle is an association with members affiliated with more than ninety newspapers, magazines, radio and television stations, Internet, and theatre publications in America and abroad.

The Public Theater just presented a special 40th anniversary tribute to A CHORUS LINE last night, April 16 in honor of the first performance of this legendary musical that premiered in The Public's Newman Theater 40 years ago and went on to make musical theater history. To commemorate this landmark event, the cast of the critically-acclaimed musical HAMILTON, currently playing on the same Newman stage, presented original cast members of A CHORUS LINE with a plaque that will hang in the Ford Foundation Lobby of The Public. The Off-Broadway League today announced nominations in 18 categories for the 30th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Lortel Awards will be handed out on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at NYU Skirball Center beginning at 7:00 PM EST, and hosted by Emmy-nominated actors Anna Chlumsky (“Veep,” Broadway's Living on Love) and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (“Modern Family,” this summer's The Tempest). This year's event will once again benefit The Actors Fund.
