Cardinal Theatricals has announced that casting is complete for the Off Broadway premiere of Mrs. Smith's Broadway Cat-tacular!, an all-singing, all-dancing 'demented cabaret on acid,' created and performed by New York based writer/actor and performance artist David Hanbury. Joining Mrs. Smith onstage will be her two 'Broadway Boys' Brandon Haagenson and Ken Lear. Directed by Andrew Rasmussen, performances will begin on Friday, July 10th at the 47th Street Theatre (304 West 47th Street - between 8th & 9thAvenue). Opening Night is set for Monday, July 20th at 7:30pm. Performances will continue through September 20th.

During an intense four-week period, dozens of artists will live, dine, create, and collaborate at the Theatre's new campus in West Berkeley.
Ordway Center for the Performing Arts announces the full cast and creative team for its holiday production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's 'Cinderella,' which features numerous Twin Cities theater favorites. Rehearsals for 'Cinderella' start November 17 and the production will run from December 13, 2011 to January 1, 2012 on the Ordway stage for a total of 23 performances.
Organized by Broadway Asia International and Thirty Saints Production Company, Ordway Performing Art Center's recent production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" directed by James Rocco, and starring American Idol star Anthony Fedorov, will premiere in Tokyo, Japan on March 3, 2011 for a two-week run.
Rent, the rock musical about a group of artists in New York City who are dealing with questions of art, integrity, AIDS, and community, premiered on Broadway in 1996 and enjoyed a twelve-year run there, spurring multiple national tours. Now, for the first time, a local production of the show can be seen in the Twin Cities at the Lab Theatre, and it's enjoying a reinvigoration that comes with new staging, local actors, and a commitment to a full audience experience.
Though the Broadway production of Rent closed on September 7, 2008 and the national tour based on the Broadway production gives its final performance this February, the show and its message live on.
Minneapolis theatergoers will be able to see as much for themselves through the first local, professional production of Rent, which opens on February 3 and runs through February 21 at the Lab Theatre (formerly the Guthrie Lab), located in the Warehouse District near Acme Comedy Club and the former site of Theatre de la Jeune Lune.
