David T. Little Appointed 4th Composer in Residence for Opera Philadelphia, Gotham Chamber Orchestra and Music-Theatre Group

Opera Philadelphia, in collaboration with Gotham Chamber Opera and Music-Theatre Group in New York, is proud to announce that composer David T. Little has been selected as its fourth Composer in Residence (CIR). Little was chosen from over 100 applicants for the position and now has the opportunity to follow a personalized development track focused on the advancement of his skills as an operatic composer.

Violinist Jennifer Koh, known for her commanding, laser-focused performances and commitment to new repertoire, plays the New York premiere of Jennifer Higdon's The Singing Rooms, a large scale work for violin, chorus and orchestra with the New York Choral Society and Orchestra conducted by David Hayes at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium tonight, April 29, 2014 at 8:00 p.m.

LA Chamber Orchestra Announces 2014-15 Season; Jeffrey Kahane Named Music Director Laureate

Esteemed and much beloved Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra Music Director Jeffrey Kahane will be named Music Director Laureate at the conclusion of the 2016-17 season when he steps down from the Orchestra's artistic helm in three years following an unprecedented 20-year tenure, announced LACO President K. Eugene Shutler. Kahane will become the first Music Director Laureate in the Orchestra's history when he assumes the newly established post in recognition of his great contributions to the Orchestra.

The Celebrity Series of Boston Announces 2014-2015 Season

The Celebrity Series of Boston announced its 2014-2015 season today, marking 76 years of bringing the world's greatest performing artists to Boston. The season opens on Sunday, October 5, 2014 with Italian pianist Maurizio Pollini in recital. In total, the 2014-2015 season will include 46 music, dance and entertainment engagements. The 2014-15 season is sponsored by Amy and Joshua Boger.

Utah Symphony Announces Mighty 5 Open-Air Concert Tour, 8/11-17

The Utah Symphony led by Music Director Thierry Fischer will tour Utah's red rock country, home to the state's five iconic national parks, in August 2014 with free outdoor performances surrounded by the landscape of Capitol Reef, Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks. Presented by the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation, The Mighty 5® Tour represents a collaboration between two of Utah's great treasures, the state's leading arts organization, Utah Symphony | Utah Opera, and the unparalleled natural beauty of Utah's red rock country preserved within the five national parks, collectively known as "The Mighty 5."

MATA FESTIVAL 2014 to Feature 34 Composers Under 40 from 17 Countries, 4/14-21

MATA Festival turns sixteen with its largest and most ambitious installment yet: seven days of musical discovery, Monday, April 14 to Monday, April 21. Curated by Outgoing Artistic Director Yotam Haber, MATA Festival 2014 includes works by 34 composers from seventeen countries, all under 40 when they applied. They were chosen from more than 650 applicants, representing 64 countries.

Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Announces 45th Anniversary Season

Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han have announced plans for The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's 45th anniversary season. The 2014-2015 Season offers an extraordinarily vibrant palette of diverse and innovative programming performed by a vast and impressive roster comprised of 109 of the world's finest chamber music artists. The season begins on October 15, 2014, and runs through May 15, 2015. Performances take place in Alice Tully Hall, the Rose Studio, and the Kaplan Penthouse.

Gotham Chamber Opera Announces Fourth Round of Composer in Residence Program

Gotham Chamber Opera, in collaboration with Opera Philadelphia and Music-Theatre Group in New York, is proud to offer a fourth track in the nation's first comprehensive, operatic Composer in Residence program. Funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the program provides professional development opportunities for today's most promising opera composers, selected on a competitive basis. Five Music Alive Composer Residencies Announced by League of American Orchestras and New Music USA

The League of American Orchestras and New Music USA have announced grants to five orchestras and ten composers to participate in the Music Alive program. Now in its 14th year, Music Alive supports composer residencies in the concert halls and communities of orchestras throughout the country by providing funding and resources for multi-year orchestra-composer collaborations.
