Hamingson) announced complete casting today for BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON, the critically acclaimed rock musical that returns to The Public after a sold-out run last spring as part of The Public's Public LAB season. A co-production with Center Theatre Group and in association with Les Freres Corbusier, BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON is written and directed by Alex Timbers and features music and lyrics by Michael Friedman. Previews begin on Tuesday, March 23 and will continue through Sunday, April 25 with an official press opening on Tuesday, April 6.

The Public Theater announced complete casting for the world premiere of Suzan-Lori Parks' THE BOOK OF GRACE, directed by James Macdonald. The complete cast will feature Amari Cheatom as Buddy, John Doman as Vet, and the previously announced Elizabeth Marvel as Grace. THE BOOK OF GRACE will begin previews on Tuesday, March 2 and run through Sunday, April 4 with an official press opening on Tuesday, March 16. All evening performances for THE BOOK OF GRACE will be at 7:30 PM, except for Saturdays at 8 PM.

Author Branden Jacobs-Jenkins has taken a different approach to depicting race in his upcoming play, NEIGHBORS, reports the New York Times, set to open at the Public Theatre on February 16th. Jacobs-Jenkins has his black actors play the roles in black face, as was often done in minstrel performances during the Vaudeville era.

As HAIR readies for its Broadway makeover and London premiere, rumors are beginning to swirl as to which current cast members will be settling in across the pond and which new faces will be gracing the Broadway production. The newest reports out suggest that American Idol alumni Ace Young (season 5's seventh runner up) and Diana DeGarmo (season 3 runner up) are among the new picks for the Broadway replacement cast. No official announcement has been made by the production, although it is expected that casting announcements for London and New York are imminent, as the new Broadway performers go into rehearsal in the coming weeks.
