Promises promises is a 'musical' of two halves. I say 'musical' loosely as it is more a play with songs that don't particularly enhance the story. On top of this Burt Bacharach's score never reaches any great soaring heights, it is more a commentary of the action taking place. Its highlight is Turkey Lurkey Time at the conclusion of Act 1, by this stage, unfortunately, the audience has already been lost by some pretty uneventful script and direction.

The digital only EP features a selection of hand-picked and fan-favorite tracks from seasons 3 and 4 of the Sony Pictures Television dramedy, an original recording by 'Drop Dead Diva' series regular Margaret Cho and a new score suite by series composer Scott Starrett. The album also features an exclusive track by The Daylights titled 'The Last Thing We'll Ever Do' and is available for download only days before the highly anticipated fourth season finale of 'Drop Dead Diva' on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 9pm on Lifetime.

The Sherman Brothers, Richard and Robert, the musical geniuses behind "Mary Poppins," "Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang" and "Winnie the Pooh" may have another theatrical success on the way. Prior to Robert's death in March of this year, the brothers composed the words and music for "MerryGoRound," a new Broadway musical which, originally scheduled for Spring 2011, is now anticipating its New York debut later this year, 2013, with producer Jack Stein and director Andrew Belling. The Green Room Awards took place at The Famous Spiegeltent in Melbourne last night, and global favorite MARY POPPINS led the night with a total of nine awards out of its twelve nominations. Yana Alana and the Paranas in Concert, a cabaret production, was a close second for total awards with six out of eight cabaret awards.
