Following the success of two stellar productions in season 2012 The Producers and Chess, The Production Company's final production for 2012 is the award-winning Broadway musical Promises, Promises.
Artistic Director, Ken Mackenzie-Forbes has secured the AFI Award winning film-maker, Nadia Tass to direct her first musical for TheProduction Company alongside Musical Director Guy Simpson (Miss Saigon, Love Never Dies) who will be making a most welcome return. Starring Marina Prior, Matt Hetherington, Robert Grubb, Tony Cogin and Chelsea Plumley, this smart and sexy musical is guaranteed to charm its way into your heart. Set in Manhattan in the 60's Promises, Promises stars Australia's leading lady Marina Prior (MARY POPPINS, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) as Fran Kubelik, the cafeteria waitress whose romantic troubles have got her down and Matt Hetherington (The Voice, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Sugar) as Chuck Baxter, the enterprising associate on the way up the corporate ladder.
When Academy Award winning team Burt Bacharach, Hal David and legendary playwright, Neil Simon turned the Billy Wilder movie The Apartment into the hit musical, Promises, Promises, they created a show with one hit after another, including I'll Never Fall in Love Again, Promises, Promises, and I Say a Little Prayer. Mackenzie-Forbes said that this delicious Burt Bacharach score with the witty book by Neil Simon and lyrics by the all time great, Hal David created an intoxicating cocktail that thrilled audiences on Broadway for four years when it first opened and last season completed another Tony Award-winning season on Broadway.
