Summer's here and the snowbirds have migrated back up north. That means it's time again for the annual funny fest known as the Sarasota Improv Festival. The non-stop laughter returns on July 11 and 12 for two days and nights of unpredictable and hysterical comedy, with 17 of the hottest groups on the national improv scene.

Live Nation in association with Carolines on Broadway announced Rolling Stone's "funniest man under 30", Aziz Ansari, will bring his Modern Romance tour to Madison Square Garden on October 9th. Tickets are on sale now through www.ticketmaster.com, charge by phone and select Ticketmaster outlets. If tickets remain they will be available at the Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall and Beacon Theatre box offices on Sunday, June 14th.

In 1994, Bette Midler returned to New York after nearly 20 years in Los Angeles, and started the New York Restoration Project, a non-profit organization devoted to bringing abandoned and neglected parks, gardens, and open spaces in all five boroughs back to life. NYRP includes the beautiful New Leaf Cafe in Fort Tryon Park as part of its success, and is committed to helping restore parks and gardens devastated by Hurricane Sandy. As a general journalistic rule, if you are going to be writing an article, a stand-up comic is a terrible interview subject if you are looking for controlled, measured responses. However, if you are ok with the interview occasionally going off the rails and having to turn the volume up really loud on the interview tape just to hear answers through the laughter, then go for it.
