At the Connelly Theater (220 E. 4th St.), Soho Rep. and Ars Nova present the New York premiere of Cesar Alvarez's Futurity, a new, avant-Americana musical with music by Alvarez and The Lisps, and lyrics and book by Alvarez. Directed by Soho Rep. Artistic Director Sarah Benson, the production will feature 13 actor-musicians. The production is presented in association with Carole Shorenstein Hays. Performances begin tonight, October 6, 2015.

PIPPIN, presented by Victoria Theatre Association, kicks off the 2015-2016 Premier Health Broadway Series with a one week engagement, tonight, Oct. 6, through Oct. 11, 2015 at the Benjamin & Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center.

ONCE, winner of eight Tony Awards including Best Musical and winner of the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, will play the Broward Center for the Performing Arts for a limited engagement from tonight, October 6, through October 18, 2015. Cedric Neal (Berry Gordy) and Lucy St. Louis (Diana Ross) will lead the cast in the West End production of Motown the Musical, opening at the Shaftesbury Theatre in February 2016.  With music and lyrics from the legendary Motown catalogue and book by Motown founder Berry Gordy, Motown the Musical is directed by Charles Randolph-Wright.  London previews will begin on 11 February 2016, with press night on 8 March 2016, with the show booking to 22 October 2016.

Yale Repertory Theatre opens its 2015-16 season with the world premiere of INDECENT, a new play with music, written by Paula Vogel, created by Paula Vogel and Rebecca Taichman, and directed by Rebecca Taichman, at the University Theatre (222 York Street), tonight, October 2, through October 24. Opening Night is Thursday, October 8. The world premiere of INDECENT is a co-production with La Jolla Playhouse, where it will play November 13-December 10.

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that beginning Tuesday, November 3, the new hit musical, Finding Neverland, will change its performance schedule by adding a Sunday evening performance, which will replace the current Wednesday evening performance.

The American Repertory Theater expands its 2015/16 Season programming with the OBERON Presents series, featuring a range of artists, companies, and programs. Up next is KANSAS CITY CHOIR BOY, with music and lyrics by Todd Almond, and featuring Courtney Love and Almond. The production runs tonight, October 1, through October 10, 2015.

The Hypocrites is pleased to continue its 2015-16 season with THE 4TH GRADERS PRESENT AN UNNAMED LOVE-SUICIDE by Artistic Director Sean Graney, co-directed by Joel Ewing and Mechelle Moe, featuring students from Senn Arts Magnet High School's "The Yard." This special collaboration will play eight performances only October 30 - November 8, 2015 at The Den Theatre's Heath Main Stage, 1329 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago.

Shea's Performing Arts Center and Broadway Partner/Producer Albert Nocciolino present the M&T Bank 2015-16 Broadway Series, featuring multiple Tony-Award winning musicals and hits on Broadway.

The world premiere, Broadway-bound musicalWaitress, based on the motion picture written by Adrienne Shelly, with a book by Jessie Nelson, music & lyrics by Sara Bareilles, direction by Diane Paulus, and choreography by Chase Brock, wraps up this weekend at American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University. The show won't open in New York until the Spring, but fans need not wait that long for a taste of what's to come. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Bareilles will release an album of songs from the show, titled What's Inside: Songs From Waitress, this fall through Epic Records. The single 'She Used to Be Mine' will be released digitally tomorrow, September 24.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) has chosen Julie Taymor as the 2015 recipient of the William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theatre (Will Award), which recognizes artists who have made significant contributions to classical theatre in America. JM Zell Partners, Ltd. will receive the Sidney Harman Award for Philanthropy in the Arts. The awards will be presented at the Harman Center for the Arts Annual Gala on Sunday, November 1, 2015, hosted by STC at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) and the National Building Museum (440 G Street NW).

The cast of Second Stage's upcoming world premiere production of INVISIBLE THREAD, a new musical by Matt Gould and Griffin Matthews, in association with American Repertory Theater, directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus (Finding Neverland, Pippin), visited Uganda to meet the people who inspired the story. Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Producing Artistic Director Andre Bishop) has announced the upcoming productions of three new plays during its 2015 - 2016 season, BroadwayWorld has learned.

Dallas Theater Center announced commissions of three North Texas playwrights. Matt Lyle, Jonathan Norton and DTC Brierley Resident Acting Company member Steven Walters will each write an original full-length play for DTC in the next 12 months.

BroadwayWorld has just learned  that Broadway veteran Terrence Mann (Beauty and the Beast, Les Miserable) will take over the roles of "Charles Frohman" and "Captain Hook" in the smash hit musical Finding Neverland beginning Tuesday, September 29. Anthony Warlow, Neverland's current Frohman/Hook, will play his final performance on Sunday, September 27.
