Folksbiene's LIGHT UP THE NIGHT: a Concert of Yiddish Theater Composers

 To ring in the New Year, on January 1 National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) will present 'Light Up The Night,' a concert of rediscovered and restored pre- and post-WWII music from the theatrical works of the great composers of the Golden Age of Yiddish Theater.  These include Ellstein, Goldfaden, Olshanetsky, Rumshinsky and Secunda.  All are leading songwriters from the era of 'The Golden Bride,' which was presented by Folksbiene Theatre in 2015 and 2016.  The cast will feature performers who were acclaimed in that production, backed by a 16-piece orchestra.  The production is in Yiddish with projected supertitles.  The full concert will be offered twice, at 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM, in Edmond J. Safra Hall at Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Place.

The Lyric Stage Announces Cast, Creative Team for MURDER FOR TWO

The Lyric Stage Company of Boston announces cast and creative team for MURDER FOR TWO, with Book & Music by Joe Kinosian and Book & Lyrics by Kellen Blair. Directed by A. Nora Long with Music Director Bethany Aiken, the production runs November 25 - December 24, 2016, with a press opening slated for Sunday, November 27, 3pm.

Beginning tonight, November 22nd, Lilli Cooper, seen on Broadway in Spring Awakening and Wicked, will take over the role of Susan.

Institute presents James and the Giant Peach, adapted for the stage by David Wood from the book by Roald Dahl, directed by A.R.T. Erik Ehn's New Experimental Drama CLOVER to Play La MaMa

La MaMa presents Clover, a new experimental theater drama about America's history of violence by Erik Ehn, directed by Glory Kadigan with original music by Maya Solovey and original puppet design & puppetry direction by Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew. BrownBox Theatre and Sound Theatre Company to Present Encore Reading of BLACK LIKE US

To celebrate the publication of the play Black Like Us, BrownBox Theatre joins forces with Sound Theatre Company to present an 'encore' staged reading of the Gregory Award Winning Play at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute.  Black Like Us is a funny, poignant, and deeply relevant story about the bonds of family, the struggles of identity, and the far-reaching effects of one woman's decision. The play is set in Seattle's Central District neighborhood, not far from the location of the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute, and spans decades of change that have impacted that community.
