MA-YI to Premiere SOLDIER X at HERE This Spring

The award-winning, nationally-renowned Ma-Yi Theater Company - one of the country's leading producers of new works for the stage by Asian-American writers - will continue its 2014-15 season this spring with the world premiere of SOLDIER X by Rehana Lew Mirza, with preview performances set to begin March 24 prior to an official opening night on March 31 at the HERE (145 Sixth Avenue, enter on Dominick Street, one block south of Spring) in NYC. SOLDIER X is directed by Lucie Tiberghien.
Cast Announced for New Schwartz & Almond Musical IOWA at Playwrights Horizons

Playwrights Horizons has announced casting for IOWA, the world premiere of a new musical play written by Susan Smith Blackburn Prize finalist Jenny Schwartz (God's Ear, Somewhere Fun), music by Todd Almond (Stage Kiss at PH, Kansas City Choir Boy, The Tempest, On the Levee) and lyrics by Mr. Almond and Ms. Schwartz. Directed by two-time Obie Award winner Ken Rus Schmoll (Red Dog Howls, Middletown, What Once We Felt; next season's just-announced Antlia Pneumatica by Anne Washburn at PH), the musical play will be the fifth production of the theater company's 2014/2015 Season.

All My Children's Alfredo Diaz will join the cast of The Sunday Series at Abingdon's presentation of 3 From The Neighborhood. It is a one night only workshop performance on March 22nd of three new one act plays by New York-based playwright Charles Messina. Diaz played the unscrupulous villan Vlad Koslov on the daytime soap.

Two River Theater Receives Doris Duke Grant for Iconis & Tracz's New Musical BE MORE CHILL

Two River Theater, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, is proud to announce that the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation has awarded the theater a generous grant of $125,000 to support its upcoming production of Be More Chill, a new musical written by Joe Iconis and Joe Tracz, with choreography by Chase Brock and direction by Stephen Brackett. The grant will also support an ongoing relationship between Two River Theater and the team of Iconis and Tracz.
