This February, Goodman Theatre has joined citywide celebrations of Black History Month with its "Black Words Matter: Celebrating Black Voices On Stage and Beyond" series of events.

Following critical acclaim for the world premiere of The Two Kids That Blow Shit Up, by Carla Ching, Artists at Play (AAP) maintains their growing commitment to developing new works into 2017. As they aim to tell the stories of diverse communities in Los Angeles theatre, AAP is partnering with the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center and the Los Angeles Public Library this season as well as tackling another world premiere production.

Playwrights Horizons begins accepting entries today, Monday, February 6 at 12 Noon, for the LIVEforFIVE online lottery for $5 tickets to their world premiere production of THE LIGHT YEARS.

Palm Beach Dramaworks Producing Artistic Director William Hayes announced today that the 2017-2018 season will include two world premieres and three classic plays. The season gets underway at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre on Friday evening, October 20, with Lillian Hellman's masterpiece, The Little Foxes (1939), in which a greedy, merciless Southern family will stop at nothing to get what they want. Up next on December 8 is the premiere of Billy and Me by Terry Teachout (author of Satchmo at the Waldorf), a play that speculates on the tempestuous friendship between playwrights Tennessee Williams and William Inge.

Cherry Lane Theatre and Seri Lawrence and Janio Marrero, MENTOR PROJECT's Producing Artistic Directors, have announced casting for the first production of the award-winning MENTOR PROJECT 2017 now in its 19th season - Ren Dara Santiago's THE SIBLINGS PLAY - being presented at Cherry Lane (38 Commerce St.) from February 22 - March 4, 2017.

Flux Theatre Ensemble presents the world premiere of Marian, or The True Tale of Robin Hood by Adam Szymkowicz (Clown Bar, Ubu, Pretty Theft) tonight, January 28, through February 11 at the New Ohio Theatre (154 Christopher Street, Ste. 1E, New York, NY 10014).

Billy and Me, a new play by Terry Teachout, whose Satchmo at the Waldorf has been produced to great acclaim Off-Broadway and throughout the country, will receive its world premiere next season at Palm Beach Dramaworks. 'A work of fiction freely based on fact,' the play speculates on the tempestuous friendship between playwrights Tennessee Williams and William Inge. PBD Producing Artistic Director William Hayes, who suggested the idea to Teachout, will direct the premiere, which runs from December 8, 2017 through January 7, 2018.   

Popular area director and playwright Denise O'Neal returns to Pearland's Pearl Theater at the helm of their upcoming production of 'A Lesson Before Dying.' The show, written by Romulus Linney and based on the popular novel by Ernest J. Gaines, is scheduled for performances February 10th through 26th  and features a notable cast which includes a returning professional artist along with several faces new to this theater's stage for performances.

His Eye is on the Sparrow, Larry Parr's stirring one-woman musical that celebrates the life of groundbreaking artist Ethel Waters, opens at The Armory on February 10, with previews beginning February 4 and performances running through March 19.

Six theatre artists will be the focus of the 18th annual Sundance Institute Retreat at Ucross Foundation in Wyoming, taking place January 23 - February 10.

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) announced today that it has been awarded four grants totaling more than $200,000 to support the commission, development, and production of several new works under A.C.T.'s New Strands, including the upcoming world-premiere theatrical adaptation of Khaled Hosseini's international best-selling novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns, opening at A.C.T.'s Geary Theater in February 2017.

The Old Globe today announced it will present the fourth annual New Voices Festival-with a new moniker: the Powers New Voices Festival, a weekend of readings of new American plays by professional playwrights, playing January 13 - 15, 2017.

On Monday, February 27, 2017 at 7:30pm, Works & Process at the Guggenheim presents a discussion with playwright Zayd Dohrn and director Kip Fagan on the creation of The Profane. Members of the cast will perform excerpts from Dohrn's sharp and timely tale.

Labyrinth Theater Company presents the world premiere of the witty and socially poignant production of Dolphins and Sharks by upcoming playwright James Anthony Tyler. The production, which marks Tyler's professional debut, is scheduled for February 9 - March 19 and is directed by Charlotte Brathwaite.

Directed by FSU/Asolo Conservatory first-year acting professor, Andrei Malaev-Babel, A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE previews in the Cook Theatre at the FSU Center for Performing Arts on Today, December 27 at 7:30pm with a special 'Pay What You Can Performance,' officially opens on Wednesday, December 28 at 7:30pm, and runs through Sunday, January 15.

Playwrights Horizons has announced complete casting for THE LIGHT YEARS, the world premiere of a new play written by Drama Desk Award winner Hannah Bos (The Open House, Jacuzzi, Blood Play, Buddy Cop 2) and Obie Award winner Paul Thureen (Jacuzzi, Blood Play, Buddy Cop 2), directed and developed by Obie Award winner Oliver Butler (Jacuzzi, The Open House, Blood Play), made by The Debate Society.
