Happy New Year, all! To kick off this brand new year, BroadwayWorld looks ahead at all the upcoming productions slated to take the Broadway stage in 2013!

Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Beth Henley's 100-proof comedy THE MISS FIRECRACKER CONTEST, starring film and television actress Amber Tamblyn and directed by Tony Award winner Judith Ivey, will bow on Broadway in the spring of 2013. THE MISS FIRECRACKER CONTEST marks Ms. Tamblyn's Broadway debut and Ms. Ivey's Broadway debut as director, and is produced by HOP Theatricals. Broadway theater and dates to be announced.

According to the NY Post, the cast for the annual 24 Hour Plays on Broadway has just been announced. Participants will include: Seth Green, Sam Rockwell, Brooklyn Decker, Brooke Shields, Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera, Anthony Mackie, Billy Crudup, Carla Gugino, Diane Neal, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Fisher Stevens, Gabourey Sidibe, Jack McBrayer, Kathy Najimy, Liev Schreiber, Leslie Bibb, Michelle Trachtenberg, Rachel Dratch, Rosie Perez and Zosia Mamet.

Amber Tamblyn recently got married to comedian David Cross. Unlike most brides who usually wear a white, ivory or cream color wedding dress, Tamblyn decided to wear a yellow form fitting wedding dress with short sleeves instead. The beautiful bride styled her hair with flowers and choose a yellow bouquet of flowers to go with her dress.

Last night, June 29, Cirque du Soleil opened its major new acrobatic spectacle, Zarkana, at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Performances began Thursday, June 9, 2011 for a limited engagement through October 8, 2011. Presented by iShares, Zarkana is written and directed by acclaimed film and theatre director François Girard (The Red Violin, Silk). The Independent Spirit Awards were held on Saturday in Santa Monica, California, where stage vet Natalie Portman won the title of Best Actress for her work in 'Black Swan.' The film was also named Best Picture and earned an award for best director, Darren Aronofksy.

IFC has green lit a second season of its original comedy series The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret. This deal was brokered by Zodiak Media Group's international division Zodiak Rights.
