Rubicon Theatre Company previously announced that Catherine Borek, star of the documentary 'OT: OUR TOWN,' will join director Scott Hamilton Kennedy and representatives from Rubicon's cast of Our Town, for a panel discussion following the 6:00 p.m. screening of the award-winning film today, March 4, at the Century 10 Downtown Theatre, 555 E. Main Street.

The Amanda McBroom Project: 1 Great Songwriter, 4 Magical Nights, 30 Incredible Women! will play the Laurie Beechman Theatre, March 8, 9, 15, and 16 at 7pm.

It's hard to believe that Amanda McBroom--who many consider to be one of the country's leading cabaret performers--had never played the elegant Cafe Carlyle before the current run of her new show A Valentine Rose. The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel has announced the first performers for the 2013 spring season at the legendary Café Carlyle. In the upcoming season, the Café Carlyle will host Howard McGillen and Rebecca Luker, Amanda McBroom, and John Lloyd Young for back to back exclusive one week engagements. Woody Allen & the Eddy Davis New Orleans Jazz Band will also be returning as a Carlyle favorite.

By the last August, I had fallen so far behind on writing reviews of cabaret shows from the spring and early summer (I guess it's a positive when there are more performers and shows in New York than days in the week) that I decided to play catch up by combining a bunch of critiques into one big column. I hadn't planned on doing that again, but this fall there were so many shows that once again I couldn't keep up. but at least I've beaten my self-imposed deadline New Year's Eve deadline of posting these reviews of 12 shows, all staged between September-December by lovely, attractive women (okay, so one is a gender-bender) of varying talents and levels on the cabaret depth chart, from established stars to MAC and Bistro Award-winners to comeback 'kids' to interesting beginners and occasional performers who are in the game to follow their bliss. Whether their performances were rave-worthy, earning of qualified praise, or not quite up to snuff, they all deserve kudos for taking the plunge.

Tony and Olivier Award-winner John Caird (Les Misérables and Nicholas Nickleby), West End rising star Sam Caird, and Tony nominee Paul Gordon (Jane Eyre) recently arrived in Ventura to begin rehearsals for a new holiday musical entitled LITTLE MISS SCROOGE, which will be presented as a limited-run staged concert for Rubicon Theatre subscribers, December 12 through 23, 2012.
