John Manzelli, producing Artistic Director of City Theatre, presents Summer Shorts 2013, the eighteenth edition of fast and often hilarious short plays that South Florida theatre audiences have come to expect as the perfect kick-off to summer theatre.
Theatre Planners will present a World Premiere play, THE ASSASSINATION OF LEON TROTSKY: A COMEDY, written by Peter Lefcourt, and directed by Terri Hanauer. THE ASSASSINATION OF LEON TROTSKY: A COMEDY will preview on Friday, June 21 at 8pmand will open on Saturday, June 22 at 8pm and will run through Saturday, July 28 as a guest production at the Odyssey Theatre, 2055 S. Sepulveda Blvd., in Los Angeles.

The Annual Summer Shorts Festival includes an all-new Summer Shorts production, a new family musical and CityWrights: Professional Weekend for Playwrights including the announcement of the winners of the 2nd Annual City Theatre National Award For Short Playwriting.
In celebration of Black History Month, the Bronx Music Heritage Center (BMHC) will present a trolley tour of music history in the Morrisania neighborhood of the South Bronx, with a focus on sites where African American music legends lived and performed.
