The Memphis Development Foundation/Orpheum Theatre today announced that Brett Batterson has been selected as the new president and CEO of the organization.

NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts will present the N.Y. premiere of The Minstrel Show Revisited, a reworking of the Tony-nominated Donald Byrd's 1991 Bessie Award-winning theatrical confrontation of America's cultural racism, runningOctober 28 - 30, 2015. The Minstrel Show Revisited questions and critiques the 19th Century black-faced entertainment genre whose legacy is still felt today and continues to play a significant role in cultural stereotyping. Beyond the Stage, a series of pre-and post-show conversations, will be held each evening.

Marcia Pendelton, founder and president of Walk Tall Girl Productions has announced the 15th anniversary celebration of her company. On Monday, September 28, 2015, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, Pendelton and her friends from the performing arts, fashion and media will join forces to celebrate her company's work to bring diverse audiences to the arts, on Broadway and beyond. 

Last year the School of Nimbus Dance Works gave over $30,000 in scholarship funds to Jersey City youth, to ensure access to high quality dance training, regardless of financial situation. Nimbus' youth programs broaden young peoples' horizons and enrich the community with world-class arts. While remaining true to the company's community mission, up to now, scholarship money has come from the company's general operating budget. The 2015 Gala raises funds to offset the expense of the scholarship program, ensuring that this program, and Nimbus Dance Works are sustainable for the long term benefit of Jersey City.

American Repertory Ballet, New Jersey's preeminent classical and contemporary ballet company, will perform throughout New Jersey - in Princeton, New Brunswick, Lawrenceville, Branchburg, Rahway, Manasquan, South Orange, and Trenton - and at the Joyce Theater in New York City from September 2015 through April 2016. The performance season will open tonight, September 24, at Rider University Bart Luedeke Center with an open rehearsal and State of the Art Address, celebrating 5 years of Artistic Director Douglas Martin's artistic leadership.

Lincoln Center at the Movies, the new cinema series recently announced by Lincoln Center in partnership with Fathom Events, will open in fall 2015 with Great American Dance presenting performances by four of America's leading companies: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ballet Hispanico, New York City Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet. Each event will be shown in select cinemas nationwide at nearly 400 locations.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts has announced its 30th International Dance Series, a season marked with important American, West Coast and Center premieres to be discovered and enjoyed by audiences from throughout Southern California. The distinctive personalities of each company in the Center's 2015 - 2016 International Dance Series come to life, from opulent and classical to daring, bold and contemporary.

To herald its 2015-16 season of international dance, New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents Dancemakers on Diversity: Sharing Common Ground in a Multicultural Art, a remarkable gathering and conversation with seven accomplished choreographers, on Thursday, Oct. 29 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in NJPAC's Chase Room. This fall, the Arts in Education Program (AIE) at Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) will present world-renowned photographer Michael Childers' exhibition Author, Author: A Photographic Retrospective of Authors, Playwrights, and Screenwriters (October 29 - November 20, 2015) at the Monroe C. Gutman Library Gallery at Harvard University, 6 Appian Way, Cambridge, MA.

City College Center for the Arts and Clark Center NYC join together in celebration of The Clark Center for the Performing Arts with a presentation of the acclaimed dance/narrative series From the Horse's Mouth on Thursday, October 1 and Friday October 2 at Aaron Davis Hall. The From the Horse's Mouth production will serve as the culmination of Clark Center NYC's weeklong residency at City College Center for the Arts, made possible, in part, by funding from the CUNY Dance Initiative. Performances of From the Horse's Mouth begin at 7pm. A reception will follow the October 1 performance.

New and recent works by PUSH Dance Company and leading mid-career and emerging dance artists from the Bay Area and beyond will be featured during PUSHfest 2015, presented by PUSH Dance Company, a San Francisco-based contemporary dance company, founded by artistic Director Raissa Simpson. PUSHfestis a mixed-genre dance festival that showcases the work of  mid-career and emerging choreographers alongside the PUSH Company at San Francisco's ODC Theater (3153 17th Street) on September 18-20, 2015. Program A will be performed today, September 18, at 8pm and Sunday, September 20, at 4pm. Ballet Hispanico is one of 18 dance companies recognized by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation (DDCF) through the first-ever Leadership Grants Program for Dance.
