The 49th Annual Next Generation Jazz Festival Presented by Monterey Jazz Festival takes place April 5-7, 2019 in downtown Monterey. The weekend-long event includes big bands, combos, vocal ensembles, and individual musicians competing for a spot on the stages of the 62nd Annual Monterey Jazz Festival. Powerful pianists, singing storytellers, swinging big bands, a beat scientist and some of the baddest ensembles on the jazz scene make up the First Wave of artists announced today for the 65th edition of the Newport Jazz Festival presented by Natixis Investment Managers. Curated by Artistic Director Christian McBride, the Festival takes place August 2-4 at Fort Adams State Park and the International Tennis Hall of Fame at the Newport Casino.
ABC announced today that it has renewed the hit drama “The Good Doctor” for a third season, “A Million Little Things” for a second season and “Shark Tank” for an 11th season.
Drea de Matteo is set to recur on ABC's A Million Little Things beginning next week, according to Deadline. She will be playing Mrs. Nelson, a woman who lives at Barbara Morgan's old address.
The 2019 Freihofer's Saratoga Jazz Festival features an extraordinary roster of twenty-two musical groups, highlighted by the festival debut of Grammy award winning artist Norah Jones, and the return of jazz legend George Benson and festival favorite Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue. Totem Pole Playhouse's critically-acclaimed annual production of A Christmas Carol has received a "Best of the Best" Award from the American Bus Association (ABA) as one of the top 100 events in North America. The "Best of the Best" designation is an annual compendium of the 100 best events for group travel in the United States and Canada. The American Bus Association provides more than 600 million passenger trips annually on charters, tours, scheduled service and shuttles. Membership in the ABA includes motorcoach operators, tour operators, and tourism-related organizations. A committee of its members selects the top 100 events each year from hundreds of celebrations, festivals, fairs, performing arts presentations, regional commemorative events, and more. Totem Pole's production was submitted for consideration by Destination Gettysburg, the official marketing organization for Gettysburg and Adams County.

Seeking musical therapy as a relationship was coming to end, SLUGish leader Steven Lugerner revisited a selection of “go-to” nostalgic recordings by many of his favorite artists. “I started to make a list of songs that tugged at my heart, soul and ears,” writes Lugerner. “The collection of songs your hear on this album are all songs that have been deeply embedded in my musical ethos, play after play.”
