Craig Jessup Sings THE GLORY OF LOVE Tonight

Acclaimed Bay Area crooner Craig Jessup returns to the concert stage with another collection of classics from the Great American Songbook tonight September 19 at 8pm at 142 Throckmorton Theatre (142 Throckmorton Ave., Mill Valley).

Alliance Theatre just opened the world premiere of BULL DURHAM, a new musical based on the beloved 1988 film. Directed by Kip Fagan (Off-Broadway: The Revisionist), BULL DURHAM has a book by Academy Award-nomineeRon Shelton (director and screenwriter of the Bull Durham movie) and music and lyrics by Susan Werner, whom the Chicago Tribune called, 'one of the most innovative songwriters working today.' Broadway veterans John Behlmann, Melissa Errico, and Will Swenson star as the Veteran catcher 'Crash' Davis (Swenson), rookie pitcher Ebby Calvin 'Nuke' LaLoosh (Behlmann) and Annie Savoy (Errico).

Court Theatre & American Blues Theater Extend NATIVE SON

Due to early ticket demand, Court Theatre and American Blues Theater announce an extension to the world premiere of American Blues Ensemble Member Nambi E. Kelley's new adaptation of Richard Wright's classic novel, Native Son, directed by Seret Scott. Native Son will now run September 11 - October 19, 2014 at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Avenue.

54 Below, Broadway's Supper Club, presented 'The Songs of Miller and Tysen' last night, September 15th, 2014. Described as equal parts James Taylor and Stephen Sondheim, Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen's songs have been performed everywhere from East Village folk clubs, to Off-Broadway theaters, to Sesame Street. The concert featureed some of Broadway's best performers singing never-before-heard material from Tuck Everlasting, which premieres at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta this winter. The concert also included favorite tunes from The Burnt Part Boys, and The Mysteries of Harris Burdick.

Blackfriars Welcomes New Artistic & Managing Director

Blackfriars Theatre (Blackfriars) welcomes Danny Hoskins as Artistic and Managing Director of the organization. Mr. Hoskins inherits the position from Blackfriars current Artistic and Managing Director, John Haldoupis, who will step down as artistic leader of the organization after the close of the 2014-2015 Season.

TCG Sets Fox Foundation Resident Actor Fellowships 9th Round Recipients

The William & Eva Fox Foundation and Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, have announced the ninth round of Fox Foundation Resident Actor Fellowships recipients. The program is designed to support actors' professional and artistic development, to enrich relationships between actors and nonprofit theatres and to ensure continued professional commitment to live theatre. Funded by the Fox Foundation and administered by TCG, the fellowship is one of only a few programs of its kind for actors in the country.

Peak Performances Presents Liz Lerman's HEALING WARS, 9/25-27

Alliance Theatre, Actor's Express, Serenbe's OKLAHOMA! and More Among 2013-14 Suzi Bass Award Nominees; Ceremony Set for 11/3

The Suzi Bass Awards, Inc. revealed nominations for the 2013-2014 Atlanta professional theatrical season this evening to theatre patrons and industry artists. The Suzi Nomination Party, which rotates venues, was hosted this year by Actor's Express in the King Plow Arts Center of Atlanta. Guest announcers included performers Christy Baggett, Laura Cole, Danielle Deadwyler, and Tess Malis Kincaid.

ASO Management & Musicians Unable to Reach Agreement; 2014-2015 Season Cancelled?

Despite months of Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) discussions, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Players Association and Orchestra management have not reached an agreement on a new contract. As a result, the contract with the musicians' union has expired, effective 12:00 midnight on Saturday, September 6, 2014. This development may delay or cancel portions of the scheduled 2014-15 season, which is set to open on Thursday, September 25, 2014.

Georgia Shakespeare Cancels Upcoming HENRY V

Due to insufficient financial resources, Georgia Shakespeare announced that it has cancelled its production of Henry V, scheduled to open October 1.

San Francisco Opera Opens 2014 Season with Bellini's NORMA Tonight

San Francisco Opera's 2014-15 Season opens tonight, September 5, 2014 with a dramatic new production of Vincenzo Bellini's bel canto masterpiece Norma, starring American soprano Sondra Radvanovsky in one of opera's most dazzling and demanding roles. American mezzo-soprano Daveda Karanas is the young priestess Adalgisa; Italian tenor Marco Berti is Pollione; and American bass-baritone Christian Van Horn is Oroveso. Music Director Nicola Luisotti conducts the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and Chorus and Director Kevin Newbury and set designer David Korins return to San Francisco Opera to premiere this vivid, large-scale new co-production with Toronto's Canadian Opera Company, Barcelona's Gran Teatre del Liceu and Lyric Opera of Chicago. Norma runs for seven performances through September 30.

L. Scott Caldwell Stars in Colony Theatre's WHAT I LEARNED IN PARIS, Beginning Tonight

The Colony Theatre will present the second production of its historic 40th Anniversary season, the West Coast Premiere of WHAT I LEARNED IN PARIS by Pearl Cleage. The production stars Tony winner L. Scott Caldwell, and is directed by Saundra McClain. WHAT I LEARNED IN PARIS will preview tonight, September 3; Thursday, September 4; and Friday, September 5 at 8:00pm. It will open on Saturday, September 6 at 8:00pm and continue through Sunday, October 5 at The Colony Theatre, 555 North Third Street in Burbank.
