Everyone's favourite Aussie musical, Priscilla Queen of the Desert is off on a national tour, starting in Melbourne this January with stops in Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane.

The 70's and 80's inspired jukebox musical, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, tells the story of three drag queens who travel across the Australian desert on a journey to reach Alice Springs on the titular bus.

Theatre Rhinoceros presents Priscilla, Queen of the Desert - The Musical, with a book by Australian film director-writer Stephan Elliott and Allan Scott, using well-known pop songs as its score, directed by John Fisher, with msical direction by Dan Feyer and choreography by AeJay Mitchell. The show will run May 27 - July 1, 2017.

PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT: THE MUSICAL is a jukebox musical adapted from Australian film director-writer Stephan Elliott's 1994 film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Adapted by Elliott and Allan Scott, the musical uses well-known pop and disco songs as the score. It tells the story of two drag queens and a transgender woman who make a trip from Sydney across the desert in a bus they name Priscilla to do a drag show in the resort town of Alice Springs in the Australian desert. Along the way, they encounter a slew of odd characters, homophobia and love in the most unexpected of places. The original production debuted in Australia at the Lyric Theatre, Sydney in October 2006. The Australian success of the show lead to a two-year West End production and finally the Bette Midler produced Broadway debut in 2011. The production now on stage at Zach Theatre is one of the first regional productions of the show.

Fiddlehead Theatre Company's Boston premiere production of PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT dazzles, and it's not just because of the millions of sequins used by Director/Costume Designer Stacey Stephens for the ab-fab fashions of the glamorous drag performers and their entourage. With over 300 costumes, eleven 3-foot wide head-dresses, more than two dozen musical numbers, and a life-size bus named Priscilla, the show offers a visual and aural smorgasbord to rival a midnight snack on a cruise ship.

David Ian Productions and the Ambassador Theatre Group have announced that Scotland's very own Gavin Mitchell will play 'Bob' and Karen Dunbar will play 'Shirley' in the smash hit musical PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT when it plays at the Edinburgh Playhouse from Tuesday 15 December 2015 to Saturday 2 January 2016. Priscilla Queen of the Desert has had massive success all over the world since it opened in Sydney, Australia in 2006 - no more so than in this country where the show enjoyed a two-year run in London and is currently on its second UK tour. From place to place and on each outing, there always seems to be something slightly different (a change to a set piece or a new song) so the show is constantly in development, keeping it fresh. Just like the 1994 film, the musical production is feel-good throughout but does address serious issues along the way. Ultimately though, Priscilla has great morals filtering through a superbly written book by Stephan Elliott and Allan Scott.
