Child Star Of THE FIVE PENNIES Joins 'Danny Kaye' At St. Luke's Theatre At 12/16

SUSAN GORDON, who played DANNY KAYE'S young daughter in the well-loved 1959 film 'THE FIVE PENNIES' will attend the 2 PM matinee of 'DANNY AND SYLVIA: The Danny Kaye Musical', on WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 16TH and then join the musical's stars, BRIAN CHILDERS AND KIMBERLY FAYE GREENBERG, on stage for a chat and to recreate the musical counterpoint of 'Goodnight, Sleep Tight Medley' (Lullabye in Ragtime/The Five Pennies) from the film.

Roger Michell will direct Patrick Hamilton's classic thriller Rope running from 10 December 2009 - 6 February 2010, with press night on 16 December. Designs are by Mark Thompson with lighting by Rick Fisher and sound by John Leonard. Rope will be produced at the Almeida in association with Sonia Friedman Productions. Booking for Rope, sponsored by Aspen Re, is now open.

The Huntington Theatre Company continues its 28th season - a season of American Stories - with A Civil War Christmas: An American Musical Celebration, a new uplifting holiday event by Pulitzer Prize winner Paula Vogel (How I Learned to Drive, The Mineola Twins, The Baltimore Waltz). Steppenwolf Associate Artist Jessica Thebus (Intimate Apparel, Dead Man's Cell Phone, Sonia Flew) directs. Andrew Resnick (A Civil War Christmas at Long Wharf Theatre) provides musical direction of beloved holiday music supervised, arranged, and orchestrated by Daryl Waters (Tony and Grammy Award nominee for Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk). The Huntington's production will be enhanced by local choirs caroling from the stage before each performance.

RIALTO CHATTER: THE 39 STEPS to Move Off-Broadway?

The New York Times is reporting that the producers of THE 39 STEPS have begun discussions to move the play to New World Stages (where it could take the place of The Toxic Avenger, which announced this morning that it was closing). No decisions have been made, but Bob Boyett, the lead producer, tells the paper that they hope to follow Avenue Q's successful lead if business arrangements can be made.

Stage and Television Star Joe Maross Dies at 86

Actor Joe Maross, whose career as a performer spanned over forty years beginning with early live television, died this weekend on November 7 of natural causes in Barnsboro Pennsylvania. He was 86.
