American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) continues its 2009-10 season with famed British theater maker Alan Ayckbourn's hilarious rumination on love and marriage, Round and Round the Garden, directed by Tony Award winner John Rando (Urinetown, The Musical, The Wedding Singer on Broadway; Urinetown, Rich and Famous at A.C.T.).

LA Times Interviews THE WAKE Author Lisa Kron

The Los Angeles Times has interviewed THE WAKE author Lisa Kron about her new play that discusses the 2000 Presidential Election and 9/11. Obie Award-winner Lisa Kron reunites with Leigh Silverman, who directed Kron's highly acclaimed 2006 production of 'Well' on Broadway, to present this new play to Los Angeles audiences.

AMERICAN IDIOT Garners 12 SF Critics Circle Noms.

This year's Critics Circle Awards, sponsored by Actor's Equity Association, today announced is nominees for excellence in San Francisco Bay area theater. Berkeley Rep's production of American Idiot, which played in the fall of 2009, leads with 12 nominations and will open on Broadway this spring.

A.C.T. Extends Mamet's NOVEMBER by Popular Demand; Now Playing Thru 11/22

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) has announced that the West Coast premiere of David Mamet's presidential farce November has been extended by popular demand through Sunday, November 22, 2009. Directed by Ron Lagomarsino, November will have six additional performances: 8 p.m. performances Wednesday, November 18, through Saturday, November 21, with 2 p.m. matinees on Saturday, November 21, and Sunday, November 22.

WISHFUL DRINKING with Carrie Fisher Extends to Jan. 17, 2010

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director), in association with Jonathan Reinis, Jamie Cesa, Eva Price & Berkeley Repertory Theatre, is pleased to announce a two-week extension of Wishful Drinking, created and performed by Carrie Fisher. Directed by Tony Taccone, the Broadway premiere production will extend through January 17th, 2010.

But in recent seasons it seems that type of grandiose reception has been reserved for productions that land on our stages by way of Chicago. I have no idea what the new black may be but I have a strong hunch Steppenwolf is the new Old Vic.
