Little Orchestra Society Presents TUBBY THE TUBA, 3/16

On Saturday March 16th, The Little Orchestra Society presents the event of the season, a performance of Tubby the Tuba with narration by the legendary Patti Smith. Led by Guest Conductor David Alan Miller, this is described as a unique take on a classic will follow Tubby in his discovery of melody and sound.

48 HOURS: "Crazy Love" was Saturday's #1 prime program in households and viewers, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Saturday, Jan. 26. In the 10:00-11:00 PM time period, 48 HOURS was first in households (3.7/06), viewers (5.28m), adults 25-54 (1.5/04) and adults 18-49 (1.0/03).

Fountain Gallery Will Present 100 Original Artworks, 6/8

Fountain Gallery, the premier venue in New York City representing artists with mental illness, has announced that 100 original works by its artists will be exhibited for sale at the 9th End of Annual Meeting Season Celebration on Friday, June 8, 2012, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. The event will take place at Ellen Philip Associates, located at 134 West 26th Street in Manhattan.

Little Orchestra Society’s 2012-2013 Season Announced

A roster of talented guest conductors will lead The LOS' Happy Concerts and Lolli-Pops™ series. Highlights include: Victor Herbert's Babes in Toyland; New York Times best-selling author and illustrator Peter H. Reynolds in a new production, The Magical Musical Pencil; iconic National Book Award-winner, rock musician and poet Patti Smith narrating her childhood favorite, Tubby the Tuba; and the New York premiere of Disney Fantasia Live in Concert, combining the animation from the 1940 and 2000 films with live orchestral performance.

Northrop Presents Accordo, Season 3, Concert 3: Brahms/Haydn Variations, 5/14

Accordo, established in 2009, is a Minnesota-based chamber group. Its third season, which opened with a program of Romantic String Sextets and closes with tonight's May 14 offering, is presented by The Schubert Club, Northrop Concerts and Lectures, and Kate Nordstrum Projects at the National Historic Landmark Christ Church Lutheran.

Symphony Space's Gertrude Stein's Paris, a month-long, multi-disciplinary festival devoted to the vibrant cultural milieu of Gertrude Stein's Paris, continues tonight, April 27 with two fully staged productions devoted to the inspiration Stein's work had on vocal and operatic repertoire. Encompass New Opera Theatre will present two one-act operas based on texts by Stein, Virgil Thomson's Capital Capitals and Ned Rorem's Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters. Directed by Nancy Rhodes, this salute to Stein's work through American opera is a fresh examination of the influence Stein has had throughout the arts.

As part of Pulitzer Prize nominee Eisa Davis's two-year position as artist-in-residence at Symphony Space, she will present an evening of songs from her most recent recording, Something Else, as well as other original works, and offers a sneak preview from her new music-theater work, Flowers are Sleeping, commissioned by Symphony Space that will receive its world premiere performance in April of 2013 as part of Symphony Space's Harlem Renaissance festival.

Lorin Levee, Principal Clarinet for LA Philharmonic, Passes Away at 61

Lorin Levee, Principal Clarinet of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, passed away peacefully on February 22 surrounded by friends and family. Mr. Levee, born July 8, 1950, is survived by his mother Mildred, brother Phil, son David, daughter Marissa Martinez and granddaughters Maya and Gwen Levee.

The Artistic Home's 2008/2009 Season

The Artistic Home at 3914 North Clark Street 2008/2009 season consists of three mainstage productions: Look Homeward Angel by Ketti Frings, Modigliani by Dennis McIntyre, and The Latent Heterosexual by Paddy Chayefsky. The Artistic Home Acting Studio will also produce two productions: The Fox by Alan Miller and another production to be announced.
