Written by Pulitzer Prize winner Ketti Frings, Look Homeward Angel is directed by John Mossman, co-founder and Associate Artistic Director of The Artistic Home. Mossman most recently directed the critically acclaimed Juno and the Paycock for the Artistic Home, which earned four After Dark Awards and three Jeff Nominations.
Adapted from Thomas Wolfe's controversial chronicle of his Asheville youth, Look Homeward Angel marks the tumultuous coming-of-age of Eugene Gant. Growing up in a home full of eccentric travelers, Eugene struggles to discover the world that lies beyond his mother's boarding house and the grasp of his turbulent family. A brawling, epic search for connection to each other, one's self and the land beyond.
The production features Artistic Director, Kathy Scambiatterra and stage veteran, Frank Nall. The large cast also includes Artistic Home Ensemble Members Eustace Allen, Jill Schroer, Maria Stephens, Kate Tummelson, Matt Welton and Miranda Zola; along with Michael Denini, Jeremy Glickstein, Tim Goldich, Veronica Lynn, Joan McGrath, JP Pierson, Katherine Swan, Sam Undine and Philip Wasik; with Nick Horst in the leading role as Eugene Gant. Artistic Associate Greg Guyles will design the set, with lighting design by Claude Heinz, costumes by Irene Servose, properties by Lindsay Monahan, and sound design by Artistic Associate James Murray. It is produced by Ensemble Members Tim Miller and Joe McCauley, with Kaiser Ahmed serving as Assistant Director.
Modigliani opens February 8 and runs through March 22, 2009, Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm, and Sundays at 3:00pm. Previews are February 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 at 8:00pm. Tickets are $28.00 on Fridays and Saturdays, $25.00 on Thursdays and Sundays, and subscription packages are available for $55.00. Preview tickets are $15.00. For tickets, call 1-866-811-4111 or visit www.theartistichome.org.
Set in the Left Bank of Paris, 1916, Modigliani is the story of a critical 72 hour period for an artistic genius on the verge of fame. A bitter rival of Picasso, Modigliani turned Montparasse upside down with his legendary excesses and talent, while spawning a circle of friends and lovers that worshipped him like a rock star.
The production will be directed by Kathy Scambiatterra, with Associate Artistic Director and founding Ensemble Member John Mossman in the title role as Amadeo Modigliani. It also will feature Ensemble Members Eustace Allen, Luis Crespo, Vic Doylida, Maria Stephens and Matt Welton. Jeff Nominated and After Dark Award winning Chelsea Meyers will design the set, and Jeff Nominated AaRon Johnson will design the sound.
The Latent Heterosexual (Chicago Premiere)

Tickets are $28.00 on Fridays and Saturdays, $25.00 on Thursdays and Sundays, and subscription packages are available for $55.00. Preview tickets are $15.00. For tickets, call 1-866-811-4111 or visit www.theartistichome.org.
The Latent Heterosexual was written by acclaimed every-man playwright, Paddy Chayefsky, and will be directed by Jeff Christian. This will be the first known production of The Latent Heterosexual in nearly 40 years.
In The Latent Heterosexual, John Morley is a zany, suddenly-successful author who has never paid his income tax. With the IRS breathing down his shorts, Morley throws himself on the mercy of his tax adviser, a legal weasel of wizardry inventiveness. In this world where everything - including sexual and self-identity - comes with a price tag, Chayefsky tells a tale of corruption of the artistic soul.

| The Artistic Home
The Artistic Home is an equity theatre company noted for their innovative and intimate presentations of rarely-produced classics. Audiences may know The Artistic Home best from their recent Jeff-nominated production of Juno and the Paycock, which also received three After Dark Awards, including "Outstanding Ensemble". Other productions from The Artistic Home include the Jeff-Nominated Landscape of the Body, Natural Affection, Peer Gynt, Five Women Wearing the Same Dress and After the Fall as well as Unchanging Love, The Miss Firecracker Contest, The Petrified Forest, Orpheus Descending, Three by Synge, and Street Scene which received an After Dark Award for "Outstanding Ensemble."
For ten years, The Artistic Home has consistently produced compelling theatre on the north side of Chicago. Starting as an ensemble of thirteen actors, the company has evolved into a group of thirty actors, directors and artistic associates, collaborating to bring timeless stories of human emotion to the Chicago community. First formed in 1998 with the belief that the actor is at the heart of great theater, the company strives to give birth to unforgettable moments; to touch audiences who are increasingly distanced from human contact; to readdress the classics and explore new works with passion. |
