The Hunchback of Notre Dame, featuring a book by Peter Parnell, music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, has officially begun its spring run at Paper Mill Playhouse. Local choir members from the Continuo Arts Foundation are providing a lush backdrop for the musical, which Menken told NJTV News provides the show an 'emotional depth'. Disney Theatrical Productions and Broadway In Boston announced today that tickets for the highly anticipated Boston engagement of Disney's NEWSIES will go on sale to the public this Sunday, March 8. The Tony Award-winning production will begin performances at the Boston Opera House on June 23 for a limited 2 week engagement through July 5. NEWSIES is part of the 2014-2015 Lexus Broadway In Boston Season.

Gallery Players continues its 48th season with a production of the musical, The Baker's Wife. Based on the film La Femme de Boulanger by Marcel Pagnol and Jean Giono, The Baker's Wife features music and lyrics byStephen Schwartz (Wicked) and a book by Joseph Stein (Fiddler of the Roof). A modern day fable of love that has remained a cult favorite, the musical features the songs 'Meadowlark' and 'Proud Lady,' amongst the many other hidden treasures in this musical. This rarely produced musical will warm the hearts of romantics and cynics alike because this is story is not about true love but about the truth in love and how it shapes us. Directed by Barrie Gelles, The Baker's Wife will open tonight, March 7th at 8pm.

Harvey Fierstein is on a UK kick these days. According to the Daily Mail, the book writer and actor said that NEWSIES, which is currently touring the United States, will arrive in the West End 'in the next couple of years,' once the right theater is available.

This Sunday March 8, 1:00pm matinee performance of Disney's Tony Award-winning musical, Aladdin at the New Amsterdam Theatre (214 West 42nd Street) completes the fourth season of autism-friendly performances presented by TDF's Autism Theatre Initiative (ATI). The other autism-friendly performances of Broadway shows presented this past season have been The Lion King, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time and Matilda.
