JCC Manhattan proudly launches the seventh season of PREformances with Allison Charney on Monday, October 19th at 12:30pm. This unique concert series offers audiences rare opportunities to hear celebrated classical musicians before they perform on the world's most prestigious stages, providing a coveted space for engagement and rehearsal whilst dissolving traditional barriers between performer and audience. In its first six years, PREformances has presented over 80 of today's most important classical musicians, nearly 30 of whom have appeared on the season multiple times.

Pianist Maurizio Pollini will return to the New York Philharmonic for the first time since 1994 to join Music Director Alan Gilbert and the Orchestra for a one-night-only performance of Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1, tonight, October 16, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. The program also includes Berlioz's Le Corsaire Overture and Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet, Overture-Fantasy.

The New York Philharmonic will present Rachmaninoff: A Philharmonic Festival, November 10-28, 2015, featuring 24-year-old Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov performing three of the composer's piano concertos and the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini over the course of three consecutive all-Rachmaninoff programs, each led by a different conductor: Cristian Macelaru (in his Philharmonic debut), Neeme Jarvi, and Ludovic Morlot.

This weekend found the New York Philharmonic in Ann Arbor, Michigan, for the inaugural performance residency of its five-year partnership with the University Musical Society of the University of Michigan, in conjunction with the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance. Alan Gilbert led the Orchestra in works by Beethoven, Magnus Lindberg, Esa-Pekka Salonen, and Richard Strauss; David Newman led the score to On the Waterfrontas the complete film was screened; Philharmonic musicians led master classes; and Alan Gilbert conducted a thousand — Philharmonic brass plus the Michigan Marching Band, Michigan Alumni Band, and UMS Choral Union — at the Michigan Homecoming football game halftime show. Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) and the New York Philharmonic announce a gala fundraiser for the new David Geffen Hall by presenting a star-studded concert on Thursday, December 3, in the hall, celebrating the music of Frank Sinatra on the occasion of his 100th birthday. Earlier this year music and media executive David Geffen gave a $100 million gift to Lincoln Center to lead a complete renovation of its largest concert hall, which now bears his name.

Carnegie Hall to Present Yefim Bronfman in Three Concerts This Season

Acclaimed pianist Yefim Bronfman returns to Carnegie Hall this season to perform Prokofiev's complete piano sonatas. The nine sonatas will be divided over three concerts with numbers 1-4 presented during the first performance on Friday, November 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Zankel Hall. Spanning the composer's early years, the first four sonatas reflect Prokofiev's coming of age as he began to cultivate and define his own musical language. For the second concert, on Wednesday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Zankel Hall, violinist Guy Braunstein joins Mr. Bronfman for a performance of Prokofiev's Violin Sonatas Nos. 1 and 2, two pieces of very contrasting character. Mr. Bronfman completes the program with Piano Sonatas Nos. 5 and 9. Mr. Bronfman returns for his final all-Prokofiev concert of the season on Saturday, May 7 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. He concludes the cycle with sonatas 6-8, often referred to as the "War Sonatas" because of their reflection of the composer's reaction to World War II.
