Broadway at the Cabaret - Top 5 Picks for October 20-26 Including Joanna Gleason, Deborah Silver, and More!

Broadway's 40 theatres aren't the only places to catch performances from your favorite stars! Well after Broadway orchestra's begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven- o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. Below, BroadwayWorld brings you some cabaret highlights for this week as picked by our theatre editors, including: Broadway on 22nd Street, Joanna Gleason with Well Strung, Coven - The Music of Stevie Nicks & Fleetwood Mac, presented by Brad Simmons, Deborah Silver and Special Performing Guests Tom Wopat and Marilyn Maye, and Aspects of Andrew: Lloyd Webber @54.

SING HAPPY Benefit Concert with Deborah Silver Set for 54 Below, 10/25

Dick Robinson and LegendsRadio.com will present vocalist Deborah Silver in 'Sing Happy,' a benefit concert for The Society for the Preservation of The Great American Songbook on Saturday, October 25th at 8pm at 54 Below (254 West 54th Street - between Broadway & 8th Avenue).

Blue Note Jazz Festival Presents I REMEMBER YOU: An Evening With Diane Schuur, 6/10

On December 10, 2013 Diane Schuur turned 60. She also completed her first-ever recording in homage to her two most important and influential mentors: Stan Getz (who discovered her at the Monterey Jazz Festival in 1979) and Frank Sinatra, whose artwork hangs prominently in her Palm Springs home. Entitled I Remember You (With Love to Stan and Frank), the album of twelve songs, all previously recorded by Getz or Sinatra, or both, was produced by Diane and her new manager, Mary Ann Topper, at Avatar Studios in New York, and is set for release on Jazzheads, June 10, 2014. It also features a stellar cast of musicians, including: Alan Broadbent (arrangements/piano), Roni Ben-Hur and Romero Lubambo (guitars), Joel Frahm (saxophone) , Ben Wolfe (bass) and Ulysses Owens Jr. on drums.

St. James Studio to Present a Series of Jazz Concerts This Summer

The St. James Studio is delighted to host four talented and creative female jazz stylists over four Saturdays in May and June 2014, presented by JBGB Events. Between them they will treat audiences to a wealth of musical styles such as jazz and tango with a Parisian twist; smooth and sophisticated jazz, folk and blues; Brazilian bossa nova and swinging, finger clicking jazz.

'DEEDLES' GOES TO BIRDLAND to Preview Diane Schuur's New Album, 1/13-18

'DEEDLES' GOES TO BIRDLAND will run January 13 - 18, 2014 at Birdland Jazz Club, featuring legendary GRAMMY winning jazz vocalist and pianist Diane 'Deedles' Schuur. Schuur will preview her forthcoming new CD: 'I Remember You: With Love to Stan and Frank'.

All Nite Soul to Honor Barry Harris & Sheila Jordan, 10/13

All Nite Soul, the Jazz Ministry at Saint Peter's will honor pianist Barry Harris and vocalist Sheila Jordan. All Nite Soul begins on Sunday, October 13 at 5 PM with Jazz Vespersand pianist/organist Sarah McLawler and Les Jazz Femmes, and goes into full swing at 7 PM with a concert of over 80 musicians honoring Barry Harris (pianist) and Sheila Jordan (vocalist), National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters who began their musical careers in Detroit, Michigan.

Norbert Leo Butz, Cast of MATILDA & More Set for 54 BELOW this Week

Coming up this week, 54 BELOW, the performance venue located just below the legendary Studio 54 at 254 West 54th Street, presents some of the brightest stars from Broadway, cabaret, jazz and beyond. 54 Below also launched its series of late night events. Joining Tuesday nights' popular Backstage with Susie Mosher is vocal competition The Callback, performance event The Studio, and more.

MUSE/IQUE Set for The Castle Press, 2/11

MUSE/IQUE, an innovative cross-genre music organization curated by its noted artistic director/conductor Rachael Worby that embraces the unexpected, continues its popular Uncorked series with "Jazz Laid Down" on Monday, February 11, 2013, 7 pm. Featuring legendary bassist Charlie Haden as special guest along with the electro-acoustic jazz, funk and world music of TriTone Asylum and original choreography by Joffrey Ballet choreographer Alice Alyse, the event takes place at a fascinating "pop up" venue, The Castle Press in Pasadena, one of the nation's busiest printing studios. Amid, cocktail rounds and chairs scattered among the machinery for seating, the evening begins with complimentary wine and tours of the printing studio followed by the performance.

Today, November 12th will see the release of 'Live Kisses' - a stunning 13-song film, directed by Jonas Åkerlund, that captures the magic of an extraordinary evening in February of this year. In the intimate surroundings of Capitol Studios in Los Angeles, where Paul recorded much of his 'Kisses On The Bottom' album, he was reunited with the all-star musicians who joined him on the record to bring the songs to life for a once in a lifetime performance.

Paul McCartney's 'Live Kisses' Airs on PBS's GREAT PERFORMANCES Tonight, 9/7

Paul McCartney's Live Kisses captures the magical night of February 9 in the City of Angels - coincidentally, the 48th anniversary of The Beatles' U.S. TV debut on The Ed Sullivan Show no less --when Paul McCartney decided to bring Kisses On The Bottom, his newly released collection of pop standards and two originals, to life at the very same Capitol Studios where much of the album was created. The very special event will air on GREAT PERFORMANCES, tonight, September 7 at 9 p.m. on PBS.
