WWD reported that Shawn “Jay Z” Carter has met with Barneys New York to give his input on an internal advisory council that will be formed around the issue of racial profiling. Jay Z also helped create new guidelines for the way the retailer interacts with the New York Police Department.

Andre Leon Talley, international editor-at-large of Numero (Russia), and member of the Board of Trustees, Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), has been named Artistic Director of Zappos Couture, Zappos' digital luxury platform. Zappos Couture has enlisted Mr. Talley as part of a larger vision to continue expansion into the luxury market segment and the next phase of growth to develop a premiere destination for the luxury customer.

TV One will premiere 12 Years A Slave: A TV One Special with Cathy Hughes, a one hour program featuring a discussion with the film's director Steve McQueen and cast members Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lupita Nyong'o and Alfre Woodard. Set in pre-Civil War era America, 12 Years A Slave is based on the true story of Solomon Northup (played by Ejiofor), a free black man from upstate New York who was kidnapped and sold into slavery. The special will air tonight, November 9 at 7 PM/ET exclusively on TV One.

MSNBC beat CNN for the month of October in the key morning, weekday primetime and M-Su primetime dayparts according to data from Nielsen. MSNBC was also up across the board among total viewers and A25-54 in all key dayparts compared to September 2013.
